*** Your POV ***

This hotel had a propensity for lulling you into a sense of normalcy and then some wacky nonsence would happen right as you were starting to think you had found a cadence. It was genuinely a little tiring, even if it did keep one from being bored.

It did help though that even now Alastor insistently kept your afternoon nap time. To the point it became such a known phenomenon - the whole hotel has adopted the practice. With almost all residents and its staff either going back to their rooms for a nap or finding odd nooks of the hotel to curl up in. Charlie had to give up trying to schedule any afternoon activities during the time because demons would either not show up entirely or be too half asleep to do anything. Even if the rest of your sleep was still erratic, the couple of hours of consistent slumber was making a lot of difference in both your energy and your mood.

Today however, the hotel was about to get a rude awakening from its afternoon siesta.

Near the middle of the pentagram in the sky, there was a blinding white flash of light which narrowed to a single point from which a dark aura spread to cover the sky in darkness. An earsplitting scream echoed around the city, followed by a white beam straight down to the center. As quickly as it came, the darkness dissipated, retreating into the point of light before another bright flash. And then, gone.

You and Alastor woke up with a start, you didn't even realize what was going on fast enough to look out the window but Alastor managed to witness the last moments of the strange phenomenon.

"Whats going on?" You asked looking up at Alastor from your nestled position on his lap, he was still watching the sky looking out the near by window.

"I am not sure." He admitted. Alastor had a theory considering what he heard and saw, but if he was right they were going to get a confirmation about it pretty soon. Regardless, whatever it was would surely raise up another shitstorm to deal with here.

Looking around at the clock you saw that technically there was still sometime before you were expected to come down stairs, but you heard commotion down there already. Alastor swiveled the chair back with his foot and placed his fingertips on the bridge of his nose. Gently, you got up from his lap, placing the blanket down on him. Alastor watched as you made your way behind him out of the corner of his eye, keeping his head bent down as he tried to rub the tension out on his forehead. With a soft pressure you began massaging his neck and shoulders, after a few moments, his hand dropped to his lap limply and he moved his neck to stretch into your touch. A couple minutes later he rolled his head up to look at you, resting his head on the back of his chair, making his ears and the tips of his antlers press into you a bit.

You moved your hands to massage the base of his neck, then traveled up to his temple and jaw line, using your thumbs to draw purposeful circles on the sides of his head. His eyes fluttered closed for a second and he let out a slight moan of relief.

"A bit better?" You asked, giving him a peck on the forehead.

"Much." He replied, raising a hand up to your face and brushing it with his fingers. You gave him a little smile that he returned, getting lost in your eyes with a love struck gaze for a moment.

A gentle knock and a scared squeak interrupted, making you both look at the door which was cracked open just the tiniest little bit. Alastor gave you a small nod.

"Come in!" You chirped.

Charlie very tentatively opened the door, literally just peeking her head in to make sure the coast was clear.

"It woke us up too." You clarified and she gave out a big relieved exhale before letting the rest of her body follow her into the room. Evidently the first and last time she waltzed in here waking you up was enough for her.
