*** Alastor's POV ***

Stolas finished his cigarette, waving his hand to close the window and get rid of any residual smoke. We chatted a little longer, he told me more stories from when you used to take care of Via and I recollected some of my favorite moments with you so far. Eventually, he dozed off, leaning his head on the bed post. I stayed awake, not daring to move. It's not that I wasn't tired, and maybe if it was just you I would sleep. Maybe. But I still couldn't sleep with some one else around and I didn't know Stolas and his daughter all that well, though I did like him. He was a genuine man, who was clearly trying to do best by the people he cared for. He loved his daughter; I found my self a little jealous of that since I never had a child, and sinners couldn't have children. And he had a certain kind of love for you as well.

You woke up a few hours later, late into the night. I felt you wriggle and turn to me, giving my fingers a light squeeze which you never let go.

"Hey...." Your voice was groggy, it was cute.

"Hey my sweet."

"Did you sleep at all?" You asked, concern laced in your voice.

"No." I responded truthfully.

"You could have gone to bed." You finished turning towards me, propping your head up on your elbow, the hood of your onesie almost slipping off.

"Wouldn't that have woken you up?" I brought your fingers to my lips, watching your expression.

"Yes." You replied simply, your eyes following our hands as I put them back down on the bed. "It would have."

"So I stayed."  I explained. It really was the only reason, I wasn't going to repeat the same mistake twice.

"Thank you. I haven't slept for that long at once in... well ever." You sat up, rubbing your eyes. "But you should go to bed, you have work tomorrow. I'm probably not falling asleep again anytime soon."

"Alright." You were right, I was going to be tired in the morning. "You know where to find me if you need to." With that I gave your fingers a light squeeze and let go, though I found my self not wanting to. I teleported right into my room and crashed on the bed, not even bothering to take off the stupid onesie. It was comfortable as much I hated to admit it.

*** Your POV ***

You spent the rest of the night snacking, sketching, and finishing off the last half bottle of aged blood while waiting for Octavia and Stolas to wake up. Once they did, you all came down for a late breakfast which luckily Charlie made sure was available for all of the late risers in the hotel. Her and the rest of he hotel crew where all still chatting around the table when you sat down with your plates. Alastor had come down shortly after, you noticed he was up later that usual but honestly were just glad he took it upon himself to get some sleep. What was more surprising was seeing him and Stolas smile and wave at each other like good friends, even chat briefly over a plate of pancakes, which made you wonder exactly what happened after you and Via had passed out.

"My little starfire I hate to say this but we must get going, I am already late to that meeting with the attorney." Stolas picked up Via's plate.

"Nnooooo daadddd!" Via protested

"We can come back, Y/n will be here for the foreseeable future."

"Finnnneeeeeee..." Via stood up, gathering her things, "But Alastor has to promise to join us from the start."

"Hah," Alastor chuckled, "If work allows. That reminds me, I never gave you back the silly-"

"Keep it!" Via interrupted before Alastor could even manifest the onesie, "Just wear it next time." She smiled brightly before making everyone's jaws fall in shock as she ran up to him and gave him a big hug, audibly cracking his back. "Oh! Sorry! Still not used to my strength sometimes. You'd think I'd learn after a few decades." She brushed a speck of something off of his collar before bounding up to besides her father.
