*** Your POV ***

You showed Stolas the note. He gave you two thumbs up and a happy smile in response, letting you know you got his meaning right. You placed the paper on Alastor's night stand, and made your way out, locking the door from the inside as you promised.

Once out the door Stolas let out the giggle he has been holding in. "The man is a such a simp for you - its adorable."

"And you, are a hooligan, you know that?" You pointed a finger at the owl with mild accusation.

"Yeah yeah, it was my bad." Stolas nodded in agreement, "Sorry, I barely drink this stuff with anyone but you, so I forgot to watch the dosage. Speaking of, he told me you drank over half a bottle of the real heavy stuff to yourself a while back."

"Yeah, that happened." You didn't even try to deny it, "It was a while ago though, and not something I have to worry about anymore. Paimon doesn't have my soul and Lucifer threatened to replace him with you, personally, if he tried anything."

"Huh, that explains why I was suddenly named the official heir despite centuries of that not moving anywhere." Stolas pressed the elevator button down for you. "Though honestly I hope it doesn't come to that, it would be a major pain." He sighed tilting his head to the side, his eyes seemingly becoming tired at the prospect alone.

"I hope so too, sorry to get you potentially involved like that."

"Don't worry your pretty little head about it," Stolas put a hand on your head and ruffled your hair, but you gave him a reluctant glance in response, signaling that you were not convinced. "I mean it, even if I do get saddled with the position, knowing I was able to help in getting you free would be worth it on its own."

"Thanks Stolas." You almost whispered.

"And for the record, you deserve all the happiness Alastor brings you." The elevator doors opened as Stolas spoke, "He has clearly already made a difference in you and he adores caring for you, so let him."

"I know." You giggled, looks like the two definitely gossiped to a surprising degree. "Speaking of," the conversation reminded you of what you've been meaning to ask Stolas since Ozzie came, "Did you ever give your boo the teleportation stone?"

"I thought you'd never ask!" Stolas perked up, looking smug as he followed you back to the bar. "I did indeed. It was a really fucking long conversation after that but were official now. A lot of boundary setting." He slumped over like he was animating the emotional exhaustion of that ordeal, before straightening back up again,"I was kind of thinking of bringing him around, or maybe we could all head out to town on a little double date."

"That sounds like fun! I'll ask Alastor, he loves to cook so maybe we can all hang out at his..." you paused, realizing Alastor would be really upset if he heard you right now so you self corrected, "our place."

"A simp and loves to cook? Girl, if I didn't just get pocked by the antlers my self I would have thought you were talking of a unicorn." Stolas flicked his wrist and put it on his hip as he sat down at the bar.

"Hahahahah, he makes me wonder that too."

You two chatted a little while longer over a couple more drinks. Making plans for both the double date and also Octavia's birthday. She didn't have to host it here now for you to attend, but it still seemed like a good idea. The hotel did have a large entertainment room that could fit a lot of guests, and it was also good publicity for the hotel and Stolas, since he was now the official heir.

*** Alastor's POV ***

I woke up the next morning groggy, my head throbbing, everything in my body feeling out of sync and discombobulated. The last time I woke up feeling like this... it was that night at Vox's. There was a pinch of panic at first as I recollected the previous evening, scared to find something awful in my bits of memory again. But there was nothing, I remember loving on you like a complete goof, then you and Stolas helping me to the room, and nothing else. My surroundings also confirmed a very different story from what I was afraid of finding. I was in my room, in my bed, all my clothes were on me, except for the monocle neatly placed on top of a note with your hand writing.

I propped my self up and read the note, which brought a genuine smile to my face. You did everything to make sure this was nothing like that night. The funny part was I think I would have been just fine with you staying too, but I understood why you handled it the way you did. You didn't want to risk it, and opted to make sure I was in safe space the best you could. I felt a little embarrassed for my behavior last night, I should have been more mindful of my intake considering it was a completely new alcohol. But between my conversation with Stolas last night, him offering me his shoulder, your lovely face, and the note it was pretty obvious that you two didn't mind. I didn't even regret it, though holy hells was I being so silly to you, it was quite the opposite. Seeing the difference in the way that night and this one was so obvious, its like it replaced the memory somewhat, patching up the wound that it left.

You had a way of doing that. You were a healer through and through. My guiding light, my sunshine.

After taking a second to soak in this experience, I went to get freshened up. I put on a fresh suit, and clicked my fingers to summon a black flower that I have been putting in the front pocket since we came back to the hotel from my... no our, house. It was my little way of showing that I was your man. Before going to find you I looked at my self in the mirror. On the surface I looked the same as I did before the battle with Adam. The same mat black antlers, the same red hair with black tips, the same red eyes, the same bullet hole on my forehead. Even my smile looked the same. But the man behind those things... I wasn't so sure.

"Are we going to find Y/n?" My shadow popped up next to me.

"Yes. She should be a the library." I replied fixing my collar.

"I don't like being away from her." My shadow admitted, I almost felt bad for it the way it looked down, its ears drooping.

"Neither do I." I agreed.

"What if... we can't find a way out of the deal?" That would be troublesome indeed, I had to give the shadow that. But that is one thing I was not worried about.

"I will. I always do. I only have to find a way out one last time."

"One last time?" It confirmed, its eyes wide in disbelief. Funny. Seems I could still surprise my self.

"The last."
