*** Your POV, 1200+ years ago ***
"Awh, Percy, what's all this for?" You opened the door to see your lover. A beautiful black jaguar demon, with black hair and golden eyes. Although he mostly looked human, he had jaguar ears, tail, and cat like eyes. He wore dark attire with much leather and jewelry made out of animal teeth. He was much taller than you, but at the moment that was not evident as he was bent in a deep bow, handing you a beautiful bouquet of flowers and holding a paper wrapped package in his other hand.
"Just some gifts in appreciation of you my darling vixen." He wiggled the flowers in front of you with a smug little laugh. You took them in one hand and held the door open with the other. He waltzed in with a little spring in his step but you didn't make it much past the door before he grabbed you by the waist and spun you around making you "Woooohh!" in surprise. "And that's not all! Here you go!" Percy handed you the package he was holding.
"Mroowwrrr." You mocked but took the package, opening it up delicately. It was a white fox pelt, beautifully made. You would have preferred black or red, but you weren't going to complain as it was still a wonderful gift. "Oh my goodness, it's gorgeous, thank you!"
"But of course!" He kissed you on the lips with a little hum before pulling away and walking past you into your cabin. "So tell me how was your day?"
"Ohhh nothing exciting really, had a few visitors for some minor injuries, and Lilith came over to plan the next tour. We should be leaving next month to visit the south side as we haven't been there in a few years. You are welcome to come with us if you would like!" You followed him to your kitchen which as all wood, with many herbs and jars sitting all over the place.
"Oh uhhh...." Percy hesitated sheepishly, "I'll think about it hon."
"Come on! You bailed last time too!" You pouted, fiddling with the bouquet to cut the bottoms and put them in a vase.
"I know I know! I am sorry." He came up behind you and hugged you wrapping his arms around your waist. "I just have a lot to do as overlord now days, so many deals to upkeep and now I have a whole sector to myself I have to make sure functions properly. And it doesn't help that now that hell is getting more powerful, we have sins actually manifesting."
"Excuse me, what?" You looked at your lover in confusion plopping the flowers in to their container now that they were all cut.
"Yeah I know! Crazy right?" Percy let go and turned to lean on the counter next to you. "So far we got greed, lust, and gluttony. Lucifer things its sloth next."
"Wow, first the Ars Goetia and now this. Hell is really expanding now huh." There was melancholy in your voice. With all the new changes the sky was starting to be covered by smog. It was always night here, but it was beautiful. A whole milky way of bright red stars that sparkled across the sky, illuminating the forests and little villages that were starting to form now.
"You know it! Exciting isn't?"
"I guess." You shrugged looking awkwardly to the side with a small sigh.
"No don't do that! I know that little sigh, you are still all worried about the changes. Progress is good hun, more souls means more power to gather." He pointed a finger at you, still leaning on the counter with the others.
"Yes! Percy! I am!" You were exasperated, you've been having this argument for days now. "Of course I am, this is dangerous. Heaven doesn't like any other entity amassing power. And nevermind the new demons forming here. More power means more volatility, more war."
"More power, means I can protect you better." He countered.
"It also means I need more protecting!" You protested.
"You are just upset that the world is moving on without you." Percy slammed his hand on the table, clearly becoming aggravated with having this conversation again.
"Ugh. You know I don' t give a shit about that. I just dont -" You were interrupted by a bright green light and shrill laugh followed by what looked like a mass of swarming green spiders coming out of every possible corner.
"Percival! My good friend." The spiders came together to make a tall man who looked like a harlequin up top, but his bottom half was that of a black and green spider.
"Mammon!" The feline demon next to you jumped up in surprise.
"Okay Percy what the fuck? You know I don't like your dealings ending up in my cabin." You turned to him, very annoyed from both the previous talk and this incident. The last time this happened your kitchen ended up trashed and it was such a pain to clean up.
"Shut up!" He yelled at you his eyes glowing for a second as he glared at you. You took a few steps back away from he pair. You didn't like it when Percival got like this, and it was better to just let him deal with his shit.
"Oh ho ho am I interrupting?" The spider demon in front of you scuttled forward with a creepy mocking grin. "Well not my problem. Percival I dropped the money into your vault."
"What? That's not possible, it would take you hundreds of years to amount that much." Percy waved his arms and shook his head.
"Check." The spider egged on.
"Fine. Theo!" Percival summoned one of his servants, a small hellhound demon, that was in charge of his money vault. They talked briefly in hushed voices before the little hound disappeared in a poof of white smoke. Percival looked up from the spot where he just was with uncertainty.
"Sooooo you see, your soul is now mine! HAHAHAHAHHHhaahhahaha!" The spider raised his arm and a black and green soul chain extended from it to Percival's neck.
"No...." You wrapped your arms around your lover, instinctively realizing that whatever transpired, he had given up his soul. As Mammon pulled on the chain, you and Percy both were brought down to your knees but you held him up by his shoulders, preventing him from completely collapsing.
"Well then, lets go little kitty kitty, we got work to do! So much money to make! So many souls to take!" The harlequin face contorted in horrendous ways as eyes and extra grinning mouths popped out.
"No wait! I've got a better deal!" Percy exclaimed.
"Oh? What's that?" The multiple mouths talked together creating a horrible grating cacophony of sound.
"Her soul. Take her soul and I get mine back. Her soul is worth thousands on its own and she can heal and kill hellborns without the use of angelic magic." Percy told him, looking straight up at the demons face.
"Percival?" You let go of his shoulders and looked up at him. You were hoping there was some plan, some air of mischief about him. But there wasn't. Instead he was looking right past you and straight at the demon above you.
"Is that so? Well, if you are lying I'll kill you both." The voiced cooed.
"I am not lying. Is it a deal?"
"Deal!"
Percival and Mammon clasped hands and you felt like your soul was flung through a door and hit another wall, your body feeling the impact. You were also blown away by the shock of Percival's soul chain breaking, but mid air you were stopped by your own collar painfully halting your movement by your neck.
"OOHHHHH" The spider voice exclaimed in delight, and taking a few steps towards you. "You are worth a lot! Holy shit. I am going to have fun with you." Suddenly he leaned in really close to your face and pulled on the new chain. "Oh I recognize you now, you are Lilith's little singing partner. I will make soooo much money off of you!" He picked you up by the throat and threw you down laughing.
"Ohhhh ahahahaha hahahahaha so pathetic!"
You looked around, but Percival was gone. Tears welled up in your eyes, as you felt so broken and helpless laying there on the floor. You tried to pull yourself up, sitting up, but you felt so cracked all over the place. You hugged your sides tight, trying to keep it together. But you couldn't hold in your own anguished cries as Mammon's laugh billowed all around you, echoing against your skull.
