*** Your POV ***

It was only a second after you reappeared in Alastor's office that your knees buckled under you from the sheer emotion your whole body just went through. You were tired physically and emotionally. You had traveled to heaven and back, you took care of Alastor during his emotional moment, and now had some of your worst memories flooded back into your mind. And what was worse you didn't feel safe. Sure the hotel was your prison right now, but you've grown fond of it. It felt like home, but now it didn't because Charlie had almost asked something like that out of you, out of Alastor.

Alastor snapped his fingers to get rid of his cane, catching you before you hit the ground. He was in a wrecked state of his own, barely holding on by a thread, but at the moment he had a slightly clearer head than you, though not by much. He snapped his fingers again, locking the door, not just the regular lock but the extra inner locks as well.

"Close the blinds, get her a blanket, and watch the door. Make sure nobody enters. If they try, kill them." Alastor ordered his shadow. Which immediately obliged and closed all he curtains dimming the room, then came back summoning that reindeer fur blanket you loved so much and wrapping it around you tightly before sneaking out from underneath the door, its presence in the hall creating an aura of malice and bloodlust that kept everyone off the entire floor.

Alastor picked you up bridal style and walked to his office chair pulling it out with his foot. Once he sat down he started taking deep breaths that you felt in your own chest. What you both needed right now, was peace. He would have taken you to his house if its wasn't for he fact that you couldn't leave the hotel, so he chose his office because there wasn't anyone else who lived there. It was just offices and meeting rooms, unlike his room in the hotel which had other residents on it.

"I'm sorry my sweet." Alastor said in a low voice, sounding remorseful, "I have done a terrible job as a companion today."

You shook your head against his chest in protest, "No. No I should be be apologizing. I should be comforting you right now."

In reality neither of you were at fault, but both of you felt like you wanted to do more for the other.

The two of you kept sitting there just drinking in each others body warmth, syncing your breath together. Slowly, ever so slowly, both of you started relaxing into each other. Your face nestled on Alastor's chest as he held you close to him with one arm, using the other to brush your cheek with his thumb. Him finding some sort of ground as his arms wrapped around you like a life preserver. You finding some sense of safety in feeling and smelling him all around you.

Alastor's breath became more even, and he realized how tired he was. He wanted to sleep. One look at your face confirmed you needed rest too. There would be a time to talk perhaps, figure out all of what you and him were feeling. Maybe even resolve things with Charlie. But now wasn't that time, with both of you shaken to the core it would do no good. An idea came to his head, that gave him a little bit of hope that he could do something right today after all. In a quiet, soothing voice he began to sing a slow melody that was so familiar to you.

"It always seems more quiet in the dark
It always feels so stark
How silence grows under the moon
Constellations gone so soon"

The beginning words in Alastor's voice brought tears to your eyes, though they weren't of sadness, but relief. Like it was pulling this horrible turmoil out of you, lulling you into a sense of security.
