*** Alastor's POV ***

Charlie walked up to her dad who was sipping on a drink at the hotel bar, watching you and I out of the corner of his eyes. We were chatting marrily, sitting across from each other in two armchairs and a forgotten chess game in between. Mostly it was you sitting back, cuddled up in the fur blanket I gave you earlier with a sleepy, content expression as you listened to me talk about anything and everything. It seemed like my voice calmed you, lulling you into a warm light doze. I not only noticed but enjoyed the affect it had on you, and so I was more than happy to keep you entertained with my stories.

"Dad?" Charlie interrupted Lucifers thoughts and observation of you.

"Ah! Yes sweeheart, whats wrong?" He asked, quickly turning to his daughter.

"I was going to ask you that." She sat down next to him on the bar stool, "You've been watching Y/n a lot. And looking sad. Don't tell me you got a thing for her?" Charlie asked then suddenly becoming indignant at her own accusation, "What about mom?!?!?"

"No! No no no no!" Lucifer denied right away realizing what his daughter was assuming."No, absolutely nothing like that. Its just..." He breathed out looking down at his almost empty glass. "Well I knew her, wayyyy back when. Centuries before you were born."

"She's been here that long?" Charlie quickly realized she had jumped to conclusions, her shoulders relaxing as she listened to her dad.

"Oh yeah. And... She was different then."

"What do you mean?"

"She was so full of life, love, kindness. Honestly I don't know why she ended up in hell to begin with." He admitted sadly.

"She seems pretty lively now." Charlie was still a little confused, she had no way to compare since she didn't know you back then.

"Listen don't tell this to anyone but she's a healer, she always has been. She must have saved the lives of hundreds maybe thousands people. And she continued doing the same in hell." Lucifer told her, looking around and not seeing anyone close enough to hear. Unfortunately for him, he missed my shadow lurking under the corner of the bar.

"That is strange, I wonder what got her here." Charlie looked at you briefly, you had just finished giggling at one of my puns.

Lucifer continued, "Back then... Y/n had such a bright light in her eyes. And now... its like its been dimmed by years of... whatever hell has put her through. What I put her through."

"But you didn't even know where she was right? Thats what you told me when you asked to hire her."

"No. Well, thats kind of the problem. I should have checked. It was my fault that..."

"That what?" Charlie tried to push her dad on the arm but he just slumped further into himself, "Dad?"

"Nevermind sweetie, its hard to explain. " Lucifer shook his head and pushed his drink away, standing up and leaving the table.

"Dad!" Charlie chased after him, managing to catch up and grab him by the arm almost by the exit doors. Not noticing the shadow that followed her across the floor. "Dad! You can tell me."

"No... I can't." Lucifer shook his head dejectedly and pulled his arm away, exiting the hotel.

Charlie just kind of stood there awkwardly before turning around and making her way back, presumably to find Vaggie to talk to her about this. The shadow watched the whole interaction before scurrying back to you and I. Nifty had ran up to me offering cookies that were bright red with black icing splatters on it. Obviously an attempt to make it in my color scheme.
