Maybe This Will Not Last

Chapter 23

Jason's POV

"Hey." I say, when I reach Luca who's now sitting with a sad looking kid.

Luca smiles at me, before he gestures for me to sit next to him, so I do it right away.

"Who's this?" I ask when I glance at the small kid again.

He looks like he's about three, but I wasn't around kids often, so I might be wrong.

"This is my nephew, although I'm really not sure who's his father, there are way too many kids here." Luca tells me, and I chuckle.

I really can't imagine how Carter, Timmy and Mason remember all of those kids' names, but I'm sure that they know them.

"I don't have a father." The kid says, and this makes Luca frown.

"I'm pretty sure that no one in our family died recently, so I'm sure that you do have a father, or more like two of them, possibly even more." Luca says, and I nod in agreement.

"No, the brother took them away, and he didn't leave any of them for me." He tries to explain, which makes me look at Luca.

We look at each other for a while, and both of us have matching confused expressions.

"Are you sure that this is your nephew?" I ask him.

"I think so. I definitely saw him here a lot of times." He tells me with a shrug.

"What's your father's name?" I ask the kid, and he thinks about it for a while.

"Dad." He tells me, and I roll my eyes, which makes him chuckle.

"I will go find him." I say, and the kid shrugs.

I decide that Carter will be the best person to ask about this weird kid, because if Luca doesn't even know his name, then I doubt that many people here do.

"Hey, I wanted to ask where I will find this kid's parents, or at least one of them." I say when Carter turns to look at me.

He looks at the direction that I'm pointing to, along with a few people who are standing with him.

"He's mine." An Omega says, and if I remember correctly, his name is Valentin.

"Well, he said something about you being dead or something, so I just wanted to make sure that someone's here with him." I say, and he looks at me with a frown.

"I will ask him about it." Valentin tells me, and I nod slightly, but before he can walk past me, his mate stops him.

"I'm sure that he was just talking about the fact that you're pregnant.

He's jealous that we don't take him with us everywhere, while the kid that's in your bump goes with us where ever we go." Nathan explains, and Valentin rolls his eyes.

"Well, we have to talk to him anyway." Valentin says, and be gestures for his mate to follow him, which makes another man go with them too.

"Do you know all of those people's names?" I ask Carter, and he looks around to see everyone, before he nods slightly.

"I have too." He tells me, and he looks tired of even thinking about it, so I laugh slightly, and I leave him alone, so I can go back to my mate.
