Luca's POV

I look at the wolf who ran past my grandparents' house, and I wonder where he's going.

I can feel a weird pull towards him, so I guess that we're mates, but I'm not sure if that's true, because if that was the case, then he would have felt something too.

I decide to not worry about it for now, it seems that he was hanging out with someone, so I guess that I should leave him until tomorrow, especially since my family is here for me.

"Is that your mate?" Jeffery asks me, so I look at him, and I can see that he's looking at the direction that the wolf went in.

"I think so." I say quietly, and he smiles.

"Why aren't you trying to catch him already?" He asks me, and I frown.

"I really doubt that I could reach him, even though the other wolf is definitely slowing him down a bit, and I'm not sure if I want to know why he doesn't feel the mate bond." I say.

"I'm sure that he felt it, he just most likely didn't know what to do, since he was with his friend.

Or maybe he isn't sixteen yet, and he still can't feel it." He tells me, and I nod in acknowledgement.

"I will talk with him tomorrow." I say, hoping that he will leave it alone for now.

"Talk with who?" Jefferson asks me, before he sits next to his brother, and I roll my eyes.

"You're noisy." I tell him, and he rolls his eyes, before he looks at his brother, hoping that he will tell him.

"Luca found his mate." Jeffery says, and I make sure to punch him on the back of the head, as hardly as I can.

"What was that for?" Jeffery asks me, while Jefferson chuckles slightly.

"Guess." I say, and he just glares at me, so I decide to ignore him.

"What was all do this abuse about?" Mason, one of my grandparents asks me.

"Nothing, he just likes to annoy me, so I decided to punch him for that." I say, and he nods in acknowledgement.

"Well, it's your birthday, so I guess that I can ignore that." He says.

"Especially because I know Jeffery, and he's definitely one of the most annoying people from our family." Mason says.

Jeffery stands up, and Mason's eyes widen a lot, while he considers if he should run or not.

After a while of silently looking at his prey, Jeffery decides that it's a good moment to catch him, so he starts to run towards Mason.

"Carter! Jeffery is trying to kill me for telling him the truth!" Mason shouts, which gains the attention of the whole family.

All of us watch as Mason runs around the backyard, trying to reach his mate, but Jeffery catches him, before he can do this, and Mason lets out a loud groan.

"Can you leave him now?" Carter asks when he reaches his mate, who's currently being pinned to the ground by Jeffery.

"Sure." Jeffery says, before he stands up, and he walks back towards me.
