Excitement filled the air as Minju proudly displayed his toys to Jacob, hoping to lighten up the mood. "Here are my toys!" he exclaimed, his eyes shining with enthusiasm.Jacob, however, rolled his eyes dismissively. "My toys are better than yours," he declared, his tone dripping with superiority.
Minju's smile faltered, hurt evident in his eyes. He couldn't understand why Jacob would insult the toys that his hyung had just gifted him. "But they are fine with me," he replied quietly, his voice tinged with sadness.
With a look of disgust, Jacob picked up one of the small cars from the grass floor, holding it delicately between his thumb and index finger. He raised his other fingers, as if to show how disgusted he was to touch Minju's toys. "They look... trash," Jacob taunted, a mocking laugh escaping his lips.
Minju's gaze dropped to the ground, his heart heavy. Just as he was about to lose hope, he heard something that caught his attention.
"You like my daddy, right?" Jacob suddenly asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Minju's eyes widened in surprise. "Yeah, I like Ku-" he began, but Jacob cut him off, accusingly pointing his finger at Minju.
"See! You're trying to steal my daddy from me!" Jacob accused, his voice filled with resentment.
"No, it's not like tha-" Minju tried to explain, but before he could finish his sentence, something unexpected happened. Jacob stomped on Minju's toys with all his might, causing them to break into pieces.
Minju couldn't hold back his tears any longer. Feeling helpless and hurt, he pushed Jacob away, causing the other boy to stumble and fall dramatically onto the grass.
As Minju wiped away his tears, he reached for his broken toys, his favorite one among them. It was then that he heard Jungkook's voice calling out to them.
"Hey, hey!" Jungkook jogged towards them, his expression filled with concern.
But what surprised Minju even more was the sudden burst of tears from Jacob. He cried hard, his sobs echoing through the air.
Jungkook hurriedly picked up his crying son from the grass and cradled him in his arms. Then, he turned his gaze towards Minju, disappointment evident in his eyes. "What happened?" he asked, his voice laced with a mix of frustration and concern.
Minju looked at Jungkook, his eyes filled with dried tears and his lips trembling. He wanted to explain, to tell Jungkook the truth, but Jacob cut him off once again. Just like his mother, Minju thought.
"He pushed me, Dad! I was just trying to be nice to him, and he even stamped on his own toys that I was playing with. Then he pushed me suddenly. He said not to touch his toys," Jacob explained between his sobs, his voice filled with a mix of anger and sadness.
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows, finding it hard to believe. He knew Minju, knew how pure and kind-hearted the little boy was. He decided to give Minju a chance to explain. "Is it true?" he asked softly, his tone gentle as he tried not to scare Minju.
Minju shook his head vigorously, tears flowing down his chubby cheeks. He couldn't bear the thought of Jungkook being angry with him. He didn't want anyone to be angry with him. His Jimin hyung had always told him to be friendly, and that's all he had tried to do. But now, it felt like he had done something terribly wrong. He knew pushing Jacob was wrong, but it wasn't hard. He just wanted Jacob to step back so he could retrieve his toys that were under Jacob's foot.
"He was a bad boy, Dad!" Jacob chimed in, his voice loud enough for Minju to hear.
Minju nibbled on his lower lip, his heart sinking. "No, I'm not!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with frustration and sadness. With that, he turned and ran inside the building, leaving behind a frozen Jungkook and a smiling Jacob, who felt as if he had achieved something significant.
