billies pov

i wake up in the morning with the sun greeting me through the thin window shades.

i stretch my muscles and look over to sleeping lila. a smile tugs at my lips for the first time in awhile.

i get up and pack once again. yippee. i love lila but oh my god, ive always hated travelling.

it's ok though, i'd do anything for that girl; :)

i get dressed and brush my teeth and all of that. i grab my phone and see we slept until 1pm.

shit, thats past the checkout time.

then i laugh to myself realizing i can easily pay the fee.

i quickly finish packing and go over to lila's side of the bed.

"lila," i say, getting on my knees to meet our eye level.

she slowly opens her eyes and smiles at me.

"hi," she giggles.

"hi," i smile, "not to worry you but we need to leave before the inn keepers kick us out."

"ugh," she rolls over, "what time is it?"

"one," i laugh.

"one??"

"one."

she groans and quickly gets herself up. it doesnt take her long to get ready and packed. once we're ready, we check out, pay a cute fee, and hit the fucking roads once again.

once we get in the car, lila's mood changes. she's either on her phone or staring into space.

right now, she's checking the time in chicago.

"billie, it's 4pm there and the sun is already set."

"holy shit," i laugh, "we're gonna be tired once we get there."

she lets out a weak laugh before staring at the darkening horizon.

it's crazy to me how different cities are, even if they're in the same country. like it could be snowing in chicago right now, but a drought in cali.

we sit in silence for a long time, thinking about our own things.

i wonder what she thinks about.

i mean, i have an idea, but there are so many things she could be thinking about because of the amount of things that have happened to her.

i wish i could make her forget about all of it.

"lila?" i break the silence.

she doesnt answer right away. the hum of the engine and slight static of the radio becomes deafening.

she turns to me to show she's listening.

"do you, remember the car crash?" i ask shakily, not looking away from the horizon.

"i- why?"

"just, do you?"

"no, i dont," she pauses, "why?"

"you just stare into space a lot, it's just hard to believe you don't remember it."

"why? did i do something stupid?"

"no no," i force a laugh, "do you remember what happened before?"

"what, before i crashed?"

"yeah.."

she looks up to think.

"well, i know i relapsed because i saw my arms in the hospital. but other than that not really."
