“Okay, my aunt Ruby can be intimidating, even more than Rhea. She is the one who practically raised me and to be honest she has been a mother to me more than my own mother. But you should be safe with Richie.” Becky tells Freen.

They’re sitting at the table of the restaurant where they’re supposed to meet Becky's family.

Armstrongs are also fashionably late. Freen noted that.

“Relax, Becky. I feel like you’re even more scared than I am about this.” She rests her hand on Becky, brushing her thumb on its back.

“I’m not scared. I’m just...” She sighs heavily. “You know what happened with mum and I dont know how to act around her anymore. And this is the first time I'm introducing you to her and my family as my girlfriend.”

“I can handle myself, don’t worry.”

“That’s exactly why I’m worried.”

Freen drops her jaw offended. “Hey! You should be grateful to have someone like me by your side.”

Becky chuckles. “I am grateful. But also kinda scared.”

“You suck, Rebecca Armstrong. I can’t believe I’m dating you.”

Becky starts laughing wholeheartedly and then slowly closes the distance between them in a soft kiss, which of course is interrupted by someone clearing their throat in front of them.

When they break the kiss, Freen faces a woman watching them with a crooked smile, followed by Rhea, Richard and Rachel.

“Am I interrupting something?” Ruby says.

So all of them have British accent apparently. It’s so weird to listen to. Freen sometimes forgets Becky's family origins.

“Hi aunt Ruby.” Becky smiles softly and gets up to hug her tight. “Hello princess.” She says kissing her forehead.

Becky blushes and gives her a pointed look. “Auntiee.”

“Just because you’re all grown up, doesn’t mean you stop being my little girl.”

Seeing them now Freen can feel it. Ruby acts more like her mother than Rachel. Apparently the mother and daughter haven't even exchanged a glance with eachother.

While everyone takes their seat, Freen shifts closer to Becky.

“I knew you were a spoiled little princess.” Freen whispers to her.

The brunette responds by kicking the surgeon under the table. “I swear to God, Freen...”

Freen tries to keep herself from laughing. She’s glad she succeeds to do so, because suddenly Ruby's attention is directed at her.

“You must be the girl my niece has been talking about for months.”

Oh wow.

Freen knows that her story with Becky had been going on for a while now, even with ups and downs, but did she really talk about her that much?

But maybe she shouldn’t be so surprised. After all, Becky was always all she talked about to her friends and grandma too.

It’s almost weird for Freen. Or maybe it isn’t. She doesn’t have a parent or a big family like her to go to for these kind of stuff, but Becky does. She wonders if the feeling is different. It must be.

“I believe that’s me.” She says smiling.

“Well, despite what happened at the hospital, I’m proud that you pulled through.” Ruby says raising her glass and then taking a sip of her white wine. Then she turns her attention to Freen.
