"You are the love that came without warning; you had my heart before I could say no."

December 26th, 1994

At the start of term, if you had told Jupiter Black that she'd soon find herself "romantically involved" with Harry James Potter, she would have laughed, called you "barking mad," and walked off, shaking her head. But here she was, lying in bed on the morning of Boxing Day, still finding it all rather unbelievable.

"Tell me again," Hermione pressed, perched on the edge of Jupiter's bed with a curious gleam in her eye. "How exactly did you get Harry to stop being such a coward and ask you?"

Jupiter stared up at the ceiling, trying to keep a straight face. "I yelled at him for talking to Cora Farraway, then he kissed me, then I yelled at him for not asking me, and then he finally asked," she replied, each step of her explanation crystal clear.

"He's a very lucky man," Parvati teased with a smirk.

"Honestly, Jove, he's got to be absolutely whipped for you," Lavender sighed wistfully, clutching a pillow to her chest. "I wish Seamus would feel that way about me."

"Lav..." Hermione murmured gently, biting the inside of her cheek as she shared a quick look with Parvati, who was furiously shaking her head behind Lavender. "I'm sure he will."

"Hopefully," Lavender muttered, brushing away a stray tear from her flushed cheeks. Then, as if deciding to perk herself up, she turned back to Jupiter, brightening a bit. "So, are you two dating, then?"

Jupiter sat up, her eyebrows knitted in confusion. "No," she said, then hesitated. "Well... I don't know."

"Has he asked you?" Parvati inquired, raising a brow.

"Er—no," Jupiter shrugged, biting her lip. "But... we snogged after the ball, and he walked with me up to the dormitories."

"Wait," Lavender said, her eyes widening in indignation. "He snogged you afterward and still didn't even ask you out?"

"Yeah, I guess," Jupiter mumbled. "I don't think he meant it that way, though—"

"Obviously not," Hermione scoffed, rolling her eyes. "It took him ages to even figure out he fancied you. I don't expect him to actually use his head and ask you out when he had the chance."

"Nose down, Hermione," Jupiter laughed, playfully kicking her from under the blankets. "He's just... new to all this."

"Yeah, alright," Hermione chuckled. "But, Jove, if he doesn't ask you out soon, you may need to do what you did before the ball."
