Jupiter, Harry, Ron and Hermione were sitting beside the fire in the common room; the only other people awake were fellow sixth years. There had been a certain amount of excitement earlier when they had come back from dinner to find a new sign on the notice board that announced the date for their Apparition Test. Those who would be seventeen on or before the first test date, the twenty-first of April, had the option of signing up for additional practice sessions, which would take place (heavily supervised) in Hogsmeade.

"I can't even take the test, can I?" Harry sighed, flicking through the Half-Blood Prince's book for the hundredth time in hopes to find more notes to discover. "I won't be seventeen for another four months."

Jupiter chuckled, her hand absently weaving through his hair as she leaned against him. "I forget you're so young," she teased. "We'll all be able to Apparate except you."

"I can Apparate," Harry shrugged casually. "I've done it once before. It just won't be legally." He had managed to disappear and rematerialize inside his hoop during their previous lesson.

"I can't believe you've all done it but me!" Ron groaned. Having wasted a lot of time worrying aloud about Apparition, Ron was now struggling to finish a viciously difficult essay for Snape that Jupiter, Harry and Hermione had already completed.

Harry hadn't put any effort into his essay, considering his only focus over the last week was on how to retrieve a memory from Slughorn like he had been instructed to. He had been nose deep in his book, ignoring all other insight from Jupiter and Hermione.

"I'm telling you, the stupid Prince isn't going to be able to help you with this, Harry!" Hermione huffed, more loudly. "There's only one way to force someone to do what you want, and that's the Imperius Curse, which is illegal—"

"Yeah, I know that, thanks," Harry said, not looking up from the book. "That's why I'm looking for something different. Dumbledore says Veritaserum won't do it, but there might be something else, a potion or a spell..."

"There's definitely not another potion, so you won't find anything useful in that book," Jupiter said sharply. "Don't you think if there was a potion that could help you, I would've told you already?"

"There's not just potions in here," Harry shrugged, turning the page. "There's spells, too," he lifted the book for her to see, pointing out a small scribble at the top of the page. "Sectumsempra, for enemies."
