"But he was obviously showing off for Parkinson, wasn't he?"
Jupiter came down the stairs from her dormitory to see Harry, Ron and Hermione all already sitting in the common room before breakfast. Harry was leaning forward on his knees as he vigorously explained something to the other two, who looked extremely skeptical.
"What're you talking about?" Jupiter asked, her hand grazing across Harry's back as she sat down on the cushioned sofa next to him.
Ron spoke first. "Malfoy-"
"Nothing," Harry quickly said, his lips forming a straight line as he shook his head at Ron.
Hermione let out a small scoff. "Harry is still under the impression that Draco Malfoy is a death eater," she said, turning to Jupiter in her armchair. "He says Draco was saying he was to Parkinson and Zabini."
"What exactly did he say?" Jupiter sighed, leaning back against the sofa as she crossed her arms.
"You're just going to get pissed at me if I talk about it, so no," Harry answered with a sharp nod. "Why do you think I talked about him when you weren't in here?"
"I'll be more pissed if you keep things from me," Jupiter shrugged. "Pick your battle."
Harry rolled his eyes as he sighed in defeat. "He asked Zabini about Slughorn, and Zabini said," Harry did a very exaggerated impression of Zabini, "'Slughorn isn't interested in Death Eaters'. Draco got annoyed by it, and then said that 'he didn't care because he'd be out of Hogwarts next year doing a task for the Dark Lord."
"He was probably just telling a lie to impress Parkinson," said Jupiter. There was no part of her that was confident in Riddle's sudden faith in Draco; she was, however, fully convinced that he was a death eater. She liked to believe that it wasn't willingly, and she refused to hear Harry out.
Ron jumped up from his seat. "That's what I said!"
"Why would he lie?" Harry scoffed, his annoyance evident. "I'm telling you, he pulled his arm away from Madam Malkin for a reason! He's got the mark!"
"We're still on that?" Jupiter muttered under her breath, but Harry still heard it.
"Yes!" He said. "Do you not see how important that is?"
