"Forgiveness isn't approving what happened. It's choosing to rise above it."

"I can't believe he got you out of Slughorn's party again," Jupiter said quietly, raking her fingers through Harry's hair absently as he laid in between her legs, his head resting back against her chest.

Harry's dorm mates (excluding Ron) had grown entirely used to Jupiter being in their dorm now, and considering it wasn't likely that Dean and Seamus would be getting girlfriends any time soon, it seemed that she would be the only girl in there for a while.

"I told him he shouldn't feel bad about it," Harry smiled, melting into her gentle touch as she played with his hair. Harry had gotten to miss another one of Slughorn's brutally boring parties that Jupiter had just been forced to sit through only a few moments before. Ron was casting them odd looks every few moments, not fully immersed in Neville's new plant he was proudly showing off to the dorm. "Dumbledore was pleased that you actually wrote in your diary this time, though."

"I only did it so you wouldn't be mad at me, you know," Jupiter sighed, leaning her head back against his headboard as memories from her dreadful second year flooded her mind. "Writing in a diary, specifically about weird things that happen to me, is not particularly fun to repeat."

"A diary?" Seamus scoffed, tossing a ball into the air aimlessly as he laid on the floor of the dormitory, Dean's tie wrapped around his head. "What'd you write in it? 'Dear Diary, today I hexed Cora Farraway again-"

"Be nice, Finnegan," Jupiter lectured, though she had to bite back a smile from pulling at her lips. "She just got suspended for the rest of the year, I don't think she needs anymore heckling."

The dormitory fell silent. Even Seamus, who had been mid-laugh, froze and looked up at Jupiter like she had just announced she was quitting Gryffindor.

"Wait—hold on," Ron said, sitting up straighter on his bed. "Did you just... defend Cora?"

Neville nearly dropped his glowing vine. "You're not hexing her in your head right now?"

Dean turned fully in his chair, eyebrows raised. "Who are you, and what have you done with Jupiter Black?"

Harry tilted his head back, looking up at her with a small, teasing smile. "Yeah, I was sort of expecting some choice words, too."

Jupiter rolled her eyes, lightly swatting the side of Harry's head. "Oh, come on. Do you lot think I'm incapable of showing mercy or something?"

"Yes," Seamus, Ron, and Dean chorused instantly.

Neville raised a cautious hand. "I mean, you did hex her last week—and the week before that—and the week before that—"
