"Let this Christmas be a reminder that love is the greatest gift of all."

"Honestly, I think I deserve more galleons for last night," Ron huffed, kicking his trunk open as all the boys in the dormitory packed for the beginning of Christmas break. "We all had to spend an hour in the common room last night."

"Yeah, I know, I made you," Harry said, pulling a shirt from his dresser. Ron rolled his eyes, tossing a pair of socks into his trunk with unnecessary force. "You didn't make us, Harry. You paid us. There's a difference."

Seamus snickered from his bed, leaning back with his arms crossed. "Still not enough, if you ask me. You owe us more for putting up with the—what should we call it?—mind pollution you caused last night."

Harry turned, shooting Seamus a flat look. "You're hilarious," he deadpanned, shrugging off his pajama top to change into a fresh shirt.

The room fell abruptly silent.

Dean, who had been rummaging through his own trunk, froze mid-movement as Neville's jaw hung open. Seamus's smirk faltered, and Ron—already halfway through an exaggerated complaint—stopped short, his cheeks flushing a bright red.

"Bloody hell," Neville muttered, breaking the silence as his eyes zeroed in on Harry's back.

Harry frowned, glancing over his shoulder. "What?" It took Harry a moment to realize what they were gawking at. He turned slightly, catching sight of his reflection in the mirror above his dresser. The faint, fresh red lines crisscrossing his back were unmistakable. His ears turned scarlet as he quickly yanked his shirt on, the fabric sticking slightly to his still-sensitive skin.

Seamus whistled low, leaning back on his bed with a wicked grin. "Someone was a bit too enthusiastic last night, eh?"

Harry shot him a glare, but his flaming cheeks betrayed him. Ron, meanwhile, groaned, covering his face with his hands. "Merlin's beard, Harry, I live in this dorm! I don't need to see—"

"You wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't been nosy," Harry snapped, but the defensive edge to his voice only made Seamus laugh harder. He shoved his belongings into his trunk with more force than necessary. "Can we drop it already?"

Ron peeked through his fingers, his face still pale. "Not sure I'll ever be able to unsee that. Thanks a lot, mate."

Dean chuckled as he zipped up his bag. "Well, I for one think Jove deserves a round of applause."
