Late in the afternoon, a few days after New Year, Jupiter, Harry, Ron, and Ginny lined up beside the kitchen fire to return to Hogwarts. The Ministry had arranged this one-off connection to the Floo Network to return students quickly and safely to the school. Only Mrs. Weasley, Sirius and Remus were there to say good-bye, as Mr. Weasley, Fred, George, Bill, and Fleur were all at work, though all Jupiter truly cared about was the presence of both of her parents this time around.
Mrs. Weasley dissolved into tears at the moment of parting. Admittedly, it took very little to set her off lately; she had been crying on and off ever since Percy had stormed from the house on Christmas Day with his glasses splattered with mashed parsnip (for which Fred, George, and Ginny all claimed credit).
"Don't cry, Mum," Ginny said, patting her on the back as Mrs. Weasley sobbed into her shoulder. "It's okay..."
"Yeah, don't worry about us," Ron said, permitting his mother to plant a very wet kiss on his cheek, "or about Percy. He's such a prat, it's not really a loss, is it?"
Mrs. Weasley sobbed harder at his words, giving Jupiter a perfect time to fully turn her attention to her fathers after they finished hugging Harry goodbye.
Jupiter lingered a step back, watching as Sirius clasped Harry's shoulder with a firm hand, murmuring something low and encouraging that made Harry nod. Remus, quieter, pulled Harry into a brief, warm hug, his face soft with affection. The sight eased some of the tightness in Jupiter's chest; she was glad Harry still had them as well, even if the goodbye wasn't forever.
As Sirius turned toward her, his grin was teasing as always, but his eyes were serious. "You going to try staying out of trouble this term, Jupiter?"
She snorted. "When have I ever promised that?"
"That's my girl," Sirius said, pulling her into a bone-crushing hug before stepping back. "But remember, trouble's one thing—danger's another. And you've had more than your share of the latter."
Jupiter didn't answer, but her lips pressed into a thin line.
Remus stepped forward then, his expression as carefully measured as his tone. "Promise me you'll be careful."
"I'm always careful," Jupiter said, though the words felt flimsy even to her ears. "Danger just finds me anyways."
"You're brave," Remus corrected gently. "But brave and careful don't always go hand in hand."
