You're Still My Number One

"Jeongyeon-ah, how come we don't get 2yeon selfies anymore? Are you and Nayeon unnie divorced?"

The crowd laughed at the fan's question and the members of course started to tease the "married couple" right away.

"Yeah, what's with you two Jeongyeon-ah?" Jihyo demanded in true buddy fashion.

Jeongyeon's eyes flickered to Nayeon for just a moment, seeing that the older woman was rolling her eyes playfully, getting ready to say something into her mic. "Unnie and I prefer to keep our marriage private," Jeongyeon beat her to it, eliciting a chorus of oohs and aahs from the crowd.

"That's right! What Jeongyeonie and I have is too special to be shared so easily," Nayeon said. She then blew a kiss towards Jeongyeon and winked, making the crowd go even more wild. But it wasn't long before they moved on to other members and the fuss over 2yeon was forgotten.

The fan meeting drew to a close after a half hour and the members all said goodbye before disappearing from the stage and making their exit. Their managers rushed them to the waiting cars since they'd be traveling to Japan for a group appearance. Nayeon slipped into a car with a Momo and Chaeyoung, laughing at something Chaeyoung had said. Jeongyeon watched from a distance, feeling a deep ache in her chest. 

"Come on Jeongyeon-ah! We'll be late," Jihyo said as she urged her to get into their waiting car.

"Sorry, I'm coming." She slid into the seat and pulled the door shut. Jihyo immediately started talking about the fan meeting and laughing about something Dahyun had said, but Jeongyeon was only halfway paying attention. She couldn't stop thinking about that fan's question.

When had her and Nayeon drifted apart?

After her hiatus, Nayeon had been one of the first people always checking on her and making sure she wasn't pushing herself too hard. They spent a lot of time together outside of schedules, running errands and going out to eat, just simple things. But as time went on, those moments started to become less and less. Nayeon debuted as a solo artist and things between them began to change.

Nayeon was always busy with schedules. She had companies lining up to work with her, asking for appearances or brand sponsorships, not to mention all the entertainment companies reaching out to offer her special guestings on various shows. Jeongyeon on the other hand didn't have that. Sure, she had her own solo activities every now and then, but they were few and far between compared to most of her members. So while she still had the free time to go and do things, Nayeon didn't. Their time together outside of schedules slowly dwindled until it almost didn't exist anymore.

"Jeongyeon-ah, are you even listening to me?"

"Eh?"

Jihyo clicked her tongue and playfully punched her arm. "Pay attention jagiya! I was asking if you wanted to get coffee once we get to the airport. Manager unnie said we have enough time before our plane boards."

"Oh. Sure. I could use some coffee. That fan meeting was kind of draining," Jeongyeon admitted. She scrolled through her phone, seeing all the pictures that fans were posting of the meeting. One post in particular stood out.

"@2yeon4ever 2yeon is real!!!! My ship is still alive 😍"
