It was during the second period after lunch that Manjiri found Saanvi. She had come to refill her water bottle and that's when Saanvi emerged out of the library. Manjiri was happy that she finally caught this girl who had been running away all the while. She saw Saanvi exiting the library with a pile of books in her hand. They were bulky and looked heavy. When she observed closely, the books appeared old and torn, their pages falling off. Manjiri noticed that Saanvi's face was completely blank, her gaze was distant and not focused and her jovial and joking demeanour was lost. Suddenly, Manjiri noticed Saanvi's eyes gleam with some positive emotion but it was gone too soon.
Saanvi was dead tired. She was in no mood to attend the Maths lecture. She needed a way to escape out the class. She picked up helping in the library. Wow, out of all the one lakh thirty four thousand three hundred and forty ways to bunk the classes she chose this one! But she loved books, those crinkly yellow pages and that heavenly fragrance, which could be sensed after every turn of a page, gave an immeasurable amount of bliss. She was asked to arrange the books in the shelves in proper order. Soon she was lost in her own world and arranged all the books properly. Classics in one shelf, modern world fiction in another, she placed them all vertically. Novels and short stories by Ruskin Bond in one shelf and R.K. Narayan's collections were placed in another one. She traced her hand over the cover page of 'Mahashweta' by the famous author Sudha Murthy. Maybe she'd get this one issued. After that she was asked to pile up the old and tattered books with their pages going loose and then take them to the reception area. Finally she had to bring the newly arrived books from the reception, bring them to the library and place them in the remaining shelves after cleaning them. Saanvi was enjoying this job and was ready to work without any payment if she could carry a book back for a week. She laughed at her thoughts and picked up the pile of the old books. Oh no! That was a terrible thing to do. Her hand hadn't healed completely and a piercing pain shot through her hand and went right to her brain. She took a deep breath, heck; this painful sensation was still alluring. She picked the heavy pile again and she could feel the bandage being completely soaked in the blood. She pulled out her handkerchief and wrapped around her hand and kept walking. When she exited the library, she saw Manjiri standing outside with that charming smile of hers.
And another shock came up for Manjiri when she noticed Saanvi's right hand covered in a bandage. The amount of bleeding that was occurring was insane. Manjiri thought, "How could someone with an immensely wounded hand lift all those books?" Manjiri quickly jumped in front of Saanvi and asked her to handover the books. When Saanvi didn't, Manjiri herself took the books away and kept them in the library. She then dragged Saanvi towards the Medical Inspection Room. The nurse removed the previous dressing and put on a fresh, clean dressing properly. While they were leaving the MI Room, Manjiri kept on looking for Saanvi's wound. She rechecked the bandage thrice. When they reached the canteen area, Manjiri said to Saanvi, "Please, can we talk? After the school, okay?"
A/N : So, Saanvi has finally appeared in front of Manjiri. Will she accept Manjiri's request? Will they come to their normal selves again?
