Vic's pov
I woke up the next day feeling like a truck had hit me. And I didn't even recall drinking that much.
But in hindsight, I probably ended up drinking a little more than I intended to so I could forget about a specific thing. Or someone.
It only took me a few minutes of getting lucid for the memories to all fill my brain again. The way Mei grabbed my waist and kissed me, pressed me against her bedroom's door, how her hands slid under my dress, how good it felt when her tongue- Oh god. I needed to stop.
I walked into that party thinking I really needed to get laid, and I did. I got what I wanted, and was going to be happy about it. Even if the person I hooked up with was Ellie's friend, that wasn't going to change anything. Not between me and El, or between Mei and I. I was pretty sure we were on the same page about it too.
I finally got up because I was just going to stay in bed thinking about it more if I didn't, and walked to the kitchen probably looking like a zombie.
"Good morning, you" my mom said as soon as I walked in the room. She was still in her pajamas too, which made sense considering that when I got home my parents were still at their friend's house. "It's almost two in the afternoon"
"Shit, I didn't think I slept so much" I sighed. "Did you just get up too?"
"No, I'm just feeling lazy" she shrugged.
"Valid" I nodded, walking straight to the coffee machine. "I'm gonna need liters of coffee today"
"I'm assuming the party was good, then?" she asked, an eyebrow slightly raised.
"Yeah, pretty fun. I'm glad I went" I said, not wanting to share too much for obvious reasons. I'd usually tell my mom everything, but that was ot the case I wouldn't.
"Ellie's friend was so kind to invite you! You should have her over sometime"
"Sure" I just said, hoping she wouldn't ask more about her.
"Have you heard from Ellie, by the way?"
"Yeah, I called her yesterday. She seems to be doing great in England" I said, filling my mug with coffee up to the edge and sitting at the table next to my mom.
"I'm so happy for her" she smiled. "She really deserves it after everything she went through. I'm glad she found someone who makes her so happy"
"I know, I'm happy too" I agreed. "I'm not even mad about her leaving me here alone because she's so happy with Sam" I joked, but I really did mean it. I was convinced of the fact that Sam basically made her a new person, or the best version of herself.
I'd known Ellie for a few years, and she'd never been so positive and optimistic. It just seemed that her whole vision of life had changed for the better. And she really deserved that.
"Well, at least you got to celebrate new years regardless of her not being here" my mom said. "Are you not gonna tell me anything else from this party? You're usually telling me every detail and gossip of where you go"
"You know, I didn't know anyone except for Mei, so not much gossip to do" I said with a shrug, not even lying about it.
"Isn't Mei the one who's with Sam's ex's best friend?"
"Oh god, how did you remember that? Please never let Ellie know I told you that" I shook my head, trying not to laugh. "But yeah, except for the fact that they, uhm, they broke up. A while ago"
"Oh! I'm sorry to hear that"
"It's okay...I guess" I said, ignoring the fact that it was more than okay on my side. But whatever.
