Mei's pov

I met Vic's three closest friends from college, Ashley, Emma and Pete, and they were actually great. Vic seemed really happy around them and they were incredibly friendly, we started talking as if we'd known each other for years after just five minutes of meeting each other.

Vic had probably told them more about me than I thought, because they started to ask me about my writing and passion for skating, and they said they couldn't wait to meet me after hearing so much about me. Vic looked pretty embarrassed in the moment, but I later reassured her that I just found it really cute.

Spending the evening with them helped me feel better than I was when I opened up to Vic, I definitely needed some kind of distraction. And I was also just really grateful for her support, I was feeling very lucky.

The following evening we decided to have a proper dinner date. Up until then, the closest thing we'd done to that was eating together on Facetime, so it really felt like a special occasion.

"You look...amazing" I said as Vic walked out of the bathroom after she'd got ready, wearing a short black dress and her makeup looking gorgeous.

"Could say the same for you" she said, wrapping her arms around my waist. I suddenly felt underdressed in my white button-up and gray pants. "This shirt makes your arms look really good" she added with a smirk.

"No but, you're like, breathtaking" I lightly shook my head, looking at her in admiration.

"Stop" she said with a giggle. "And stop looking at my cleavage" she added, pecking my lips.

"Can't help it" I chuckled, deepening the kiss.

Our moment turned a little more heated than I intended to, but as soon as my hands slid down her back and I felt her tongue grazing my bottom lip, we both seemed to have caught up in it.

The feeling of her soft lips, her body pressed close to mine, and the warmth of her touch made me feel as if the world outside didn't exist, and it was just the two of us.

Vic pulled back, her breath warm against my lips. "We should probably get going" she mumbled.

"Yeah, we should. Don't want to miss out on our date" I nodded, my cheeks slightly flushed. "We'll continue this later"

"Gladly" she chuckled, taking my hand in hers.

The restaurant Vic had chosen was a small and cozy place, with soft lighting and an intimate atmosphere.

"Do you remember our first FaceTime dinner?" Vic asked after we'd ordered our food.

"We tried to cook the same recipe and you ended up almost burning your kitchen" I laughed.

"I...okay, yeah it did not end well for me" she chuckled. "But it was so much fun"

"Yeah" I said, reaching across the table to take her hand. "And now we're having a real dinner date. It feels surreal"

"It does" she agreed. "You being here is honestly making me appreciate this city more than usual, honestly"

"That's... nice" I instinctively smiled. "Maybe guiding me around all of these places I've never seen is making you feel powerful or something"

"Could be" she chuckled. "It's like I'm rediscovering them again, I guess. Actually, I'd only been to the modern art museum once years ago, so it kind of new for me too"

"Damn, that museum was amazing. I would have stayed there another few hours to be honest"

"I didn't think you were such an art museum fan" Vic said. "I wanted to take you there so I had an excuse to visit it again, but I wouldn't have imagined you're the kind of person who wants to see every single painting and detail of it"
