vic: of course! hope you have fun too :)
It'd almost been two months since Vic and I started texting and calling each other consistently, like every day. I'd often found myself wishing she didn't live so far away, she was such a good friend to have that it was a shame to not be able to see each other in person.
I honestly couldn't wait to be able to see her once we were both home for the summer holidays. Although I was slightly scared, given what happened the past two times we were in each other's presence. But I guessed that we actually were closer friends by then and knew much more about each other, which meant we were perfectly able to have a conversation and possibly hang out somewhere without ending up making out, or even more.
Talking to her was just so pleasant, she was a great listener and would also make the funniest jokes out of nowhere. I finally understood what Ellie meant when she said Vic was the best friend she could ask for.
"Who's got you smiling at your phone like that?" Alex asked as we arrived in front of the bar.
"What? I'm not smiling at anything" I cleared my throat, looking up to see a big glass door full of lights around it.
"You were" he shrugged. "My friends are already inside, by the way"
"I'll join you in five minutes, I just need to finish this" I nodded towards the cigarette in my hand.
"You and your habits" he scoffed. "See you in five minutes, then"
He wasn't totally wrong, because I'd definitely started to smoke more than usual. But it was my only way of replacing the drinking. Which I knew wasn't healthy, but at least I didn't get extremely hungover more than three times a week.
I was just done throwing the remains of the cigarette in the nearest trash can when I suddenly heard a too familiar voice.
"Mei?" she said.
"Sarah...hi" I said, finding myself face to face with my ex-girlfriend.
We hadn't seen each other in over six months but she hadn't changed much, apart from the fact that her blonde hair was much longer. Her face looked as surprised as mine, and we both didn't know what to say for a few seconds.
"Uhm, what are you doing here? I mean, you don't live in this area" she broke the silence.
"I...my roommate's friends live near here and wanted to see this new bar" I said, feeling like I'd just received a punch in my stomach. "You?"
"Did you forget I live five minutes away from here?" she asked.
"Oh. I...yeah" I said, feeling dumb because I'd literally been to her apartment countless times.
