Mei's pov
sam (collins): Will you be able to be here by 8pm? Vic will already be here by then and Ellie finishes work at 8.15
you: sure!
sam (collins): Great! See you later :)
The fact that Sam wanted to surprise Ellie for her birthday was extremely cute, and I couldn't help but smile at all the organization related texts she'd sent me in the past day.
I was kind of jealous of their relationship, they were really made for each other and were always so happy around each other. I knew they'd had their difficult moments and I wasn't too supportive of it all when Ellie first told me, but they truly looked like the perfect couple by then.
Ellie told me all about how she spent the holidays with Sam's family in England, and she was so enthusiastic about it that she luckily never asked about too many details about what I did. I was scared of what I could have said if she'd asked about the New Year's party.
Not that I was ashamed of what happened, but I still wasn't sure telling her would be a good idea. Plus, me and Vic both knew it was a casual thing that happened just for fun and nothing would change between us.
But still, I was glad we'd get a moment to see each other for the first time after that before being with Ellie, because some awkwardness was most likely going to be involved.
I knocked on the apartment's door slightly before 8pm, Sam opening it seconds later.
"Hi Mei! Come in" she said, a huge smile on her face. "You alright?"
"Yeah, I'm good. You? " I nodded as I walked in. I'd been there a few times but it really was a glamorous apartment, to say the least.
"Me too. In a very good mood today"
"I can imagine" I said with a chuckle.
"I can't wait to see Ellie's face when she sees Vic is here, I don't know if she told you but she thinks she wasn't able to come"
"Yeah, she seemed pretty disappointed when she told me she wasn't able to come. I'm happy she'll be here 'cause I can tell she misses her a lot" I said, hoping that I hadn't unconsciously made a weird face at hearing that name.
"She does" Sam nodded. "By the way, Vic's already here. She was just putting her stuff in the guest room"
"You have a guest room? That's...cool" I stopped myself before I could say "rich".
"It turns out useful sometimes" she shrugged. "I need to finish getting ready to go out, I didn't think you'd show up early. You can make yourself at home, though"
Before I could say anything else, Sam went into another room and Vic appeared from the corridor. She was wearing a floral pattern green top and simple white pants, and she looked as good as usual.
"Hi!" she said, her usual enthusiastic smile on her face. She really was cute.
"Hi there" I said with a nod.
"Sam said you'd be here at eight, you're early"
"I'll come back at eight if it's a problem" I joked, trying to ignore my thought about subconsciously having shown up early because I wanted to see Vic. I was definitely just lucky with the subway timing.
"No...of course not" she said with a giggle. "How's it going?"
"Well I'd say, glad exam season is over" I said, trying to ignore that my heart started beating faster for whatever reason. "You?"
