Mei's pov
"You have a lot to tell me" was the first thing Ellie told me as we met before class.
"Good morning to you too" I said with a laugh.
"Yeah, good morning Mei" she mumbled. "You have a lot to tell me"
"Do I , now?" I raised a brow as we walked towards the building our classes were in.
"You're not gonna talk about the fact that you have a crush on Vic?"
"What the hell?" I said, genuinely confused at the statement.
"You asked her out. Not to mention you two hooked up"
"The point of hooking up is literally that no feelings are involved...not that you'd know" I joked.
"I might have not experienced it but I'm aware" she grumbled, hitting my arm. "But still, you asked her out"
"To tell her I was sorry about causing... whatever happened on Friday evening"
"You flustering her and making her choke on her own spit?"
"Yeah" I couldn't help but laugh.
"It was funny" she shrugged, also laughing. "So you're telling me you really just asked her out to say you were sorry?"
"Indeed" I nodded. "It might not seem like it, but I can be a good friend sometimes"
"I know" she shook her head. "I just thought I was witnessing the start of a romance here"
"You really think I'm in the mood to start anything that has to do with romance now? Plus, I don't see Vic like that. Never have, never will. We just had a good time during the holidays"
"That's what I was saying. Asking her out didn't seem like a very you thing to do" she shrugged again, as if she was still confused. "I'm sorry I didn't trust your kindness, I guess"
"Thank you" I chuckled, thinking if I should have asked if Vic had actually told her anything that led her to think we had other intentions. But I also didn't really want to talk about feelings any longer.
"You know, it kinda feels weird to know you two... did whatever you did, the more I think about it" she added.
"I'm...sorry? I guess?"
"Don't be" she said. "Let's get to class now, I'm freezing my ass off. I was dying to wear the new sweatshirt I've bought but it's definitely not thick enough"
"I wanna see it then, you've been so gay recently so I bet I'll like it" I joked, but actually partly meant it. Ellie had always leaned towards an androgynous style, but she seemed to be moving on the more masculine side lately.
"I'm not unzipping my jacket here, you'll have to wait" she said with a giggle.
"Fine, fine" I nodded. "I'm really not in the mood to take a history class right now, also. It's so boring"
"I usually think history is interesting but yeah, this class is terribly boring" she agreed. "At least the professor is good"
"You're just saying that because she's a hot middle-aged woman" I elbowed her.
"No?? She teaches really well" she said defensively.
"She's literally your type"
"She's attractive, yes, but I wasn't implying any of that. Don't tell Sam any of this, she'll start acting weird"
"She doesn't need to be so jealous, everyone who sees you two together can tell how head over heels you both are for each other, I'm sure she can too. I think you've both lost your ability to find anyone attractive since you've known each other"
