Vic's pov
I'd never been much of a crier. I really hadn't. But as I waved Mei goodbye as her train left, I couldn't help but feel a slight stinging in my eyes.
I took a deep breath as I walked to the platform my train was leaving from. I was not going to cry over her. We'd only been together for less than a week, I couldn't be so attached to her already.
I just felt so good when I was with her that I didn't want to go through months of just seeing her through a phone's screen. It just wouldn't be the same as actually being together in real life. But I was just going to live with it.
Luckily, I fell asleep right as I sat on the train, which meant I wasn't going to be tormented by my own thoughts for the whole three hour ride.
Once I arrived in Boston, the familiarity of the place somewhat gave me some sense of comfort, weirdly. I'd always treated the city as the place I went to because I got accepted for university there and rejected in New York, which would have been my ultimate dream. But I'd recently come to appreciate it, all the historic buildings, and the overall mix of old and new.
While New York had been my dream, Boston had become my reality, and it was a reality I had come to like. Boston had given me opportunities and experiences that I might have missed out on otherwise, after all.
I made my way to campus, many students getting off at the subway stop in front of it, and I felt even more at home. Maybe I was really getting used to it. I just needed to get used to being there while being hundreds of miles away from my girlfriend.
As I got to my dorm, I immediately threw myself on my bed, exhausted from the journey. I grabbed my phone to text Mei, but it turned out she'd preceded me.
mei <3 : just got back to new york!
mei <3 : hope ur journey was okay
mei <3 : i already miss u also
you: just got back to boston, journey was fine
you: slept through the whole train ride lol, hope yours was fine too
you: and i miss you too, so much :(
mei<3: damn, we're gonna have to get used to this feeling
you: yeah...
you: we'll be fine though
mei<3: we will :))
Just as I was figuring out what to text her back, someone knocked on my door. I got up to see who it was, and I soon found myself in front of my friend Ashley.
We'd met each other because her room was next to my old one, but we'd become much closer over the past few months. She was the one who introduced me better to the other people from the surrounding rooms, with whom I'd become close friends with too. She was also the one who encouraged me to join the painting club, which I really appreciated.
"Okay, I wasn't sure if you said you'd be back today or tomorrow. Guess I was right" the blonde said.
"You were" I chuckled. "What's up?"
"Nothing much, I've just been bored because I've been back from the holidays for three days and no one was back yet" she shrugged. "Good thing both you, Em and Pete are back today"
"Oh, I didn't realize they wouldn't be back until today too" I said, happy at the thought of seeing my friends from college again. We had a pretty large group, but Ash, Emma and Pete were the ones I hung out with more often.
"Yeah, maybe we could do something fun tomorrow since lessons start next week?"
"Sure!" I immediately agreed. I needed to go out and do something, or I was just going to be sad about being away from Mei all day. "I have lots of stuff to catch you all up on, actually"
