Vic's pov
"And now she's telling me she just needs a month's time to get her shit together, and asked if I can wait for her" I told Ellie.
We'd been hearing less from each other recently, and we had a lot of catching up to do. On my side, mainly about my situation with Mei.
"And you obviously said you'd wait" my friend said.
"Well...yes"
"Didn't you tell me you were getting over her like a month ago?"
"I think I was just trying to convince myself of that for the sake of my mental well-being" I admitted.
"Guess it didn't work" she said with a giggle. "I'm glad you're kind of figuring things out now. It's about time"
"I wouldn't call it figuring it out...but we'll see. I'm still not sure I completely trust her. But I also like her a lot"
"And she likes you a lot too, I can tell"
"You can?" I asked, a smile forming on my lips just at hearing that. I hated the effect she still had on me.
"Yeah, she's been mentioning you more than is normal for someone with whom you've allegedly had no contact with for months" she said.
"Has she mentioned the conversation we had back home?"
"No, she hasn't told me anything about...all of this. Which is fair of her. But you're also my two best friends, I would have appreciated some updates from your year long situationship"
"I always wonder if you're slightly weirded out by us...you know, being involved with each other. 'Cause we're both close friends of yours"
"Not really...maybe at first. But I'm just happy for you. And I've been secretly rooting for you for a long time"
"Stop" I laughed.
"It's true!" she said. "You'll let me know if anything else happens, right?"
"Of course. Although I guess you'll have to wait until Christmas break for that"
"Mei seems much better than in a long time, you know. She might actually not bail out on you this time"
"We'll see..." I sighed. "It's just that she gets so scared of her own feelings and I don't really know how to help her. Like, it seems that she's been using coping mechanisms to block any kind of strong feeling for so long that she can't deal with them anymore. And I know it's because she has a more insecure side she doesn't show to many people, but I still wish there was more I could do"
"I know...it's very hard for her to open up, she has some kind of trust issues"
"And then all of that causes her to have really bad commitment issues" I said.
"Yeah" Ellie agreed. "Now that I'm thinking about it, she sounds a lot like Sam before...me, I guess"
"She does? I mean, wasn't she with Maya for like four years before you?" I asked, confused.
"She was, but, uhm, it was complicated. And I meant before that too"
"Oh. Wow, I didn't think so"
"Don't you remember all the stuff about her I probably overshared to you when we were having a hard time because of her ex?" she asked with a laugh.
"Kinda. I just forgot"
"Maybe you could talk to her" she said.
"What? To Sam?" I asked, not really getting what she meant.
