(a/n: you might wanna re-read chapter 87 of Bitter before this one😌)
Mei's pov
"Hello my love!" I said as soon as I spotted Vic at the station, as I'd been waiting for her train to arrive and I'd insisted on going to pick her up.
"Hi baby!" she said with a giggle, hugging me as tight as I was hugging her, and almost falling because she got off balance.
"Was the journey okay?" I asked, immediately grabbing her bag so I could carry it.
"I was asleep for half of it, so yeah" she nodded. "I have some really good news"
"You do??" I asked.
"Yeah. I'll tell you once we get to your place"
"Oh, come on, tell me!" I furrowed my brows. "I actually have some very good news too" I added. I couldn't wait to tell her. I'd got the news that same morning, and I hadn't told anyone yet.
"Really???" she asked, a smile on her face. God, I loved her.
"Maybe you're right, let's wait until we're somewhere less chaotic" I said.
Vic came to New York because mine and El's graduation ceremony was going to be held the following day, and I honestly couldn't wait. I was pretty nervous because it was going to be this huge thing in a stadium and all, but I was also happy to officially close that chapter in my life. Plus, it was going to be fun.
"So, what's the news?" I asked her once we'd arrived in my flat and settled in my room, sitting cross-legged on my bed.
"Well" she started, a furtive smile on her face, as she sat next to me. "I've been getting emails from the various universities I applied for next year"
"Right" I nodded. "And?"
"I...I got in in New York" she said.
"You did??? Oh my god!" I screamed, grabbing her face and kissing her maybe a little too aggressively. "I love you so much. I knew you'd make it. I love you"
"I love you too" she laughed, hugging me again. "I'm so happy. I can't believe it"
"I'm so fucking happy, oh my god" I exclaimed. "You're gonna move here in less than a year! That's fucking amazing!!"
"It is, isn't it?" she nodded, still laughing a little. "What about you? What was your news?"
"Oh. Uhm, well...I...I kind of got into the writing course I wanted to get in. The one that rejected me last year" I mumbled. My heart felt like it was going to explode from happiness at saying it out loud.
"What???? Oh my god!!" she screamed just like I had a few seconds before. "This is amazing! I knew you'd make it!!"
"You probably believed in me more than I did" I chuckled.
"You've been working your ass off and the piece you submitted was fucking great. It was perfect. You wrote it just like an already famous published writer. I'm so proud of you. I love you"
"Thank you" I smiled. "I love you too. So, so much" I kissed her again.
"Look at us, fulfilling our dreams and shit"
"We're awesome" I playfully said, wrapping my arms around her and dragging her with her back on the bed next to me.
"I really do love you a lot" I said, smothering her face with kisses.
"I love you too. So so much" she laughed lightly as she looked at me, her brown eyes never failing to make my heart skip a few beats.
It had been about six months since I moved back to New York and she started working in my hometown, and as much as we knew it was going to be a challenge, it turned out to be easier on us than we imagined. I was worried about the toll it'd take on Vic's mental health, but we actually coped really well.
