Mei's pov

"This view is amazing" Vic said as we propped ourselves onto a bench, sounding a little out of breath.

"It is" I excitedly said, admiring the view of the mountains in front of us. "Woah, don't drink all of your water now, baby" I added once I noticed she was aggressively sipping water from her flask.

"We've just walked under the sun for an hour, I deserve water" she furrowed her brows. "How are you not exhausted too?"

"I would have thought you had a higher physical resistance" I said with a chuckle.

"Judging by wh- oh. Oh, come on, that's different"

"Not that much" I shrugged.

"Fucking and walking are two very different things" she shook her head.

"Whatever" I laughed. "You know, I missed the mountains. I used to go on these trips with my parents when I was really young and I always loved it, but we kind of stopped when I started high-school. It feels good to be here"

"That's so nice" she smiled. "You need to show me pics of little you climbing mountains"

"I might have some" I chuckled.

I didn't realize how much I needed that little holiday with her until that day came to an end. Being away from the city or from any place with people we knew, just the two of us, felt great. I really couldn't wait to spend the next few days in the same way.

"Should we go for a walk somewhere near here this evening?" I asked Vic as she threw herself onto our hostel's room bed.

"Are you not exhausted?" she asked, spreading her arms on the mattress.

"I...not really" I shrugged. "We didn't walk that much today?"

"Are you kidding me?" she said at a higher volume, barely raising her head from the pillow. "We went on a literal 12 mile hike"

"And it was amazing!"

"It was great. I loved it" she nodded. "But all my muscles hurt now. I'm not sure I can even get up"

"Really?" I sat next to her, laughing a little.

"You're like a ten year old hyperactive boy who always needs to be doing something" she chuckled.

"I guess I am" I shrugged. "I just love being here, surrounded by the nature and everything"

"It really is gorgeous. I think you could tell how much I loved it from the amount of photos I took today" she said, turning to her side. "But my legs are not used to this, babe"

"Boring" I joked, lying next to her. "It's okay, we can rest a little now. If you don't feel like it I'll do some exploring on my own later"

"I'll come with you if I can rest now" she said, sitting up slowly and stretching her arms. "You're lucky I love you so much"

"I love you too" I laughed lightly, leaning over to kiss her.

"I'll love you even more if we can stop at an ice-cream shop when we go out if we find one"

"Deal" I chuckled, wrapping my arms around her.

I'd never felt like that before, so connected with someone and at complete peace.

I'd done the road trip thing with my ex two years prior, but it felt nothing like that. Maybe the fact that I couldn't wait to get back to New York every day of that trip should have been a good indicator. With Vic, I just had to keep reminding myself that it was all real and I'd actually got so lucky. I wanted the trip to last forever, if anything.
