The next few days were spent starting to make plans for the wedding. After talking to Elizabeth and telling her the good news, they got her permission to have the ceremony in the city, which made Lara extremely happy, even if they will miss having Evan's sister and her family there.
Once they had the okay from Elizabeth, they began telling their friends and to say everyone was happy for them is an understatement. Everyone told them how happy they were and offered to help with the preparations for the wedding, including McKay which surprised both Lara and Evan. Although, Lara is fairly sure he only offered because of Jennifer.
Lara is sitting in her office in the infirmary, remembering their friends reactions and how happy everyone was just a few days before, when she decides that this is as good of a time as any to talk to Jennifer about something that has been on her mind lately.
She leaves the office and finds Jennifer talking to one of the doctors from the night shift. She waits for them to stop talking before signaling to Jennifer to follow her and leading her back into the office.
Lara waits until Jennifer closes the door, nervous about her best friend's reaction to what she is about to ask her.
-"Is everything okay?" - There's a hint of concern in Jennifer's voice.
-"Everything's fine. I just have something I've been meaning to ask you, if that's okay."
-"Sure."
-"It's something I have put a lot of thought into and... Well, I was wondering if you would be my Maid of Honor." - A soft smile graces Lara's lips.
-"Really?" - Jennifer smiles widely at her, making Lara chuckle.
-"From the moment I arrived in Atlantis, you have been there with me through it all, including saving my life. You're my best friend and there's no one else I can see standing next to me at the altar when I marry Evan."
-"I will be honored to share that with you." - Jennifer has tears in her eyes as she hugs Lara tightly, a smile on her lips.
-"Now all you have to do is make sure I don't get cold feet." - Lara chuckles.
-"Right. That will happen at the same time that I'll be able to fly a Jumper."
Lara laughs even harder, Jennifer's hilarious failed attempts at flying the Jumpers being well documented.

Evan punches the bag again and again, when the doors to the gym opens and Sheppard walks in. He greets the man and grabs his water bottle, taking a long sip from it, before making his way to where he is placing his things on the improvised bleachers.
-"So, how are things going with the wedding preparations?" - Sheppard looks back at him, a knowing smile on his face.
-"Lara is all over it. I just have two things to take care of and already did one of them."
-"What was it?"
-"My suit. Sent the request through the last data burst to the SGC and already know it will be here in time for the wedding." - Evan smiles proudly.
-"Smart. That was good thinking on your part. What's the other thing?"
-"Actually, I need to talk to you about it."
-"Happy to help, I guess." - He looks back at Evan, clearly confused.
-"Glad to hear it, because I was thinking that maybe you could be my Best Man." - Evan smirks at Sheppard, seeing the man going from confused to shocked.
