Simple And Easy, Right?

Evan stands in the Gate Room, his team, along with a new assigned Airman, standing around him and checking their gear. He looks at them, watching them get ready, and goes through their mission in his head.

It's a simple and easy mission, just their weekly check-in with one of their allies, making sure everything's okay and to see if they need anything other than what they're delivering. The perfect mission to bring the new addition to his team on.

Double checking one last time his P-90, Evan looks up at the Control Room and at Elizabeth, nodding at her, seeing her tell Chuck to dial the gate. Evan warns his men and they all wait for the gate to connect.

As Evan and his team go through the gate a minute or so later, Evan prays that everything will go smoothly.

It's only been an hour since they left, when Evan and his team rush through the gate, the shield coming up behind them as soon as they are all through, a few things hitting the shield.

Evan is panting, slightly out of breath, when Elizabeth and Sheppard run down the stairs to meet him.

-"What happened?" - Sheppard's voice sounds just as worried as he looks.

-"Genii. We spotted them on our way out. We doubled back to warn the villagers and then hightailed it through the gate as soon as we could."

-"What the hell were the Genii doing there? Those people aren't technologically advanced enough to gather an interest from them."

-"No idea, Sir. And the locals didn't know either."

-"Get your team and yourself checked out by Dr. Lorne. We can wait until you file your report, Major."

-"Yes, Ma'am."

Evan nods at them both, before calling out to his men to get checked out. Walking towards the infirmary, after putting his gear away, he can't help but think about what Sheppard had said. Why were the Genii there? Those people are simple farmers, they don't have the technological knowledge to become allies of the Genii or to pose a threat to them. So, why were they there?
