Evan walks into the infirmary and quickly spots Lara in a corner of the large room, talking to one of the nurses, a smile appearing on his lips as soon as he sees her.

It never fails. As soon as he sees her, a smile will immediately appear on his lips, seeing her being enough to lift his spirits and make him forget about the hardships of the day. Evan can hardly believe just how lucky he is, being married to the woman he loves more than life itself and her also being his best friend.

He walks over to a free bed and climbs on, waiting for Lara to come over and do her usual post-mission check-up. Evan sees her walking towards him, a smile on her face.

-"So, how was it?" - She looks at him as she checks his blood pressure.

-"It was definitely a weird one, but I'll tell you all about it at dinner."

-"When aren't they weird?"

-"I can't argue with that." - He chuckles.

Lara goes silent, focusing on her examination, asking him things here and there about the mission, and finishes rather quickly.

-"You're good to go. You know the drill. You feel anything off the next twenty-four hours, you report right back here. I'll see you at dinner." - She kisses his cheek, but before she can leave, he grabs her hand and pulls her close.

-"Are you, or anyone from your team, scheduled to go off-world?"

-"Dr. Phillips. She's going off-world in a couple of days. Why?"

-"I'll explain later, but tell Dr. Phillips to be extra careful." - He gives her a poignant look.

-"I will. But I expect a proper explanation tonight."

-"I promise I'll explain everything. Just warn her."

-"I will, don't worry."

-"I'll see you tonight. I love you."

Evan kisses her cheek and leaves, Lara watching his back as he strides out of the infirmary, a pit forming at the bottom of her stomach and wondering what the hell was that all about, before moving on to her next patient.
