Walking back into the Gate Room in Atlantis after a month away, makes Lara take a deep breath and smile, feeling like she has just come home. She and Evan have spent the last month back on Earth for their honeymoon, spending some time with Evan's sister and her family, as well as with Jack and Sam.
Now, standing in the Gate Room, it feels like they had been away for a year, instead of just a month.
-"Welcome back. Did you enjoyed yourselves?" - Elizabeth greets them, a smile on her face, happy to see them back.
-"Thanks. We did. We got to stay with Evan's sister and her family, and spend some time with Jack and Sam." - Lara smiles back.
-"Happy to hear it. I can tell you that there's a few people here who have been eagerly awaiting your return. Once you're settled back in, report to Beckett and Sheppard, respectively. And welcome back again."
Lara and Evan nod and thank Elizabeth again, just before she is called away to her office to deal with two squabbling scientists. Lara thinks that she doesn't envy Elizabeth's job one bit.
-"It's good to be back." - Lara smiles at Evan, as they begin walking towards their room.
-"I kinda wish we had more time to be alone, but, yes, it is good to be back."
-"We'll have plenty of time to be alone, Major."
Evan tickles her side just as they reach their room, the doors opening to reveal their room having been redecorated by their friends with the gifts they received for their wedding, as well as with the photos that Daniel took, making them smile at the gesture.
Lara drops her bag by the door and starts looking through the photos, smiling at the memories of that day. Daniel did an amazing job at capturing small, but important, details from their wedding day, and Lara makes a mental note to thank him for it.
She joins Evan on the couch, wanting to take a moment to decompress before unpacking their bags and reporting back for duty.
-"We did have a good time on our honeymoon, didn't we?" - She looks back at Evan, a small smile on her lips.
-"Yes, we did. I especially loved those three days where we had your brother's house all to ourselves."
-"That is such a guy answer." - Lara chuckles. -"But I have to admit, those were my favorite too. That and seeing you playing around with your nephews."
-"I don't know who was more exhausted in the end, me or them."
-"All three of you. I think those days were the first time where you fell asleep before I did."
-"Hey, to be fair, they do have a lot of energy and I'm not getting any younger."
-"True."
-"Are you calling me old, Mrs. Lorne?"
-"Maybe." - Lara laughs out loud when Evan starts tickling her as revenge for calling him old. -"Now, seriously, as great as our time on Earth was, you know things are gonna change around here, now that we're married, right?"
-"I know. Jack warned me. He told me that, because you're my wife, we can't go off-world together, since it can put the team in a dangerous spot if something happens."
-"Right, and I can't treat you if you come back from a mission injured. The only exception is if I'm the only doctor on call and that is only until someone else takes over. Post-mission check ups are allowed, but nothing else."
-"I mean, it makes sense, if you really think about it. It prevents us from making mistakes that might get us in trouble or get others hurt."
-"Yep. I think it's for the better, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna stop worrying every time you go off-world."
-"Then that makes two of us."
-"We should unpack and report to Beckett and Sheppard." - Lara stands up, but Evan grabs her waist and pulls her down onto his lap, kissing her.
-"They can wait a little longer."
Lara smiles as he kisses her again, his hands roaming her body, thinking that he's probably right, letting herself get lost in his touch.
