Lara is sitting in her living room, Henry sitting next to her, while Jack paces the kitchen on the phone. She can hear him yell at someone, as he tries to find where her daughter is. Lara wipes the tears from her face, feeling Henry's hand rubbing small circles on her back, trying to soothe her.
She keeps replaying the last hour: the SUV, Jack's phone call, how Evan didn't know where their daughter was. Lara can't believe this is happening, thinking that she doesn't know what she will do if she loses her daughter.
There's a knock on the door and Henry tells her he will get it, the man standing up and walking to the door. She hears Henry arguing with someone and recognizes Evan's voice.
Lara stands up just as Evan walks into the living room in a hurry.
-"Lara, what's going on? Where's Ava?"
-"Ava's school told Jack that you sent someone to pick her up for a father-daughter lunch date. They had a release slip with your signature and everything. Did you send someone?"
-"I would never do that without telling you first and I sure as hell wouldn't send someone else to pick up our daughter. You know that."
-"I don't know anything anymore."
Lara shakes her head, tears starting to fall again. Evan hears the subtle accusation in her words, leaving him incredulous.
-"You don't think I did this, right?" - She doesn't answer, or even looks at him. -"Lara? You can't possibly think that I would keep Ava from you. Please tell me you don't."
-"I don't know, okay? All I know is that, before you came back, I never had to fear for my daughter's life and now she is missing. Until you came along, nothing like this ever happened." - she explodes, before starting to sob again.
-"The last thing I ever wanted was for our daughter to be in any sort of danger. You know this, Lara." - Evan is shocked and hurt with Lara's words.
-"It seems that that's exactly what you have done." - Henry places an arm around Lara's shoulders and pulls her close, giving Evan a hard look.
-"Right."
Evan looks between Lara and Henry, before walking out of the house. Jack looks back at Henry and gives him a disapproving look before following Evan out.
-"Evan, wait up. Lara didn't mean it, you know that. She's just scared and is taking it out on you."
-"Lara's right." - Evan doesn't look at him.
-"No, she's not. She's just scared."
-"What's Henry's excuse then?"
-"The man's a prick."
-"A prick that loves your sister and niece, and would never put them in any danger." - Evan starts walking away.
-"What are you going to do?"
-"I'm going to bring my daughter home to her mother."
-"And once she is back?"
-"I will leave them alone, so nothing like this ever happens again."
Evan turns his back on Jack, getting in his car and driving away. Jack stands outside for a few moments, thinking that something's off about this whole thing, but before he can think too much about it, his phone starts ringing.
