Why Are They Doing This?

The next morning, Evan stands across Elizabeth, in her office, Sheppard sitting on the arm of the couch next to him, having just told them what he had heard the day before and that he has this feeling that something is wrong with the whole thing.

-"It just doesn't make sense. Maybe he was talking about the Wraith."

-"I thought the same at first, Sir, but considering our recent encounters with the Genii and the way the village leader shut him up, I believe it has something to do with the Genii."

-"I have to agree with the Major, John. And even if it's not related to the Genii, it's still worth looking into." - Elizabeth gives Sheppard a look. -"Get a few teams to go back to the planets we ran into the Genii and have them talk to the locals. See if maybe they can get more information from them."

-"The locals might need some encouragement, if they are as skittish as Lorne says."

-"Have your men tell them that we'll make sure no one knows they were the ones who gave us any information. That they'll be safe."

-"I'll see which teams are more suited for something like this." - Sheppard stands up.

-"Take care of that as soon as you can. If the Genii are taking people, I want to know why and where. Maybe there will be something we can do about it."

-"We'll get right on it."

Sheppard and Evan leave Elizabeth's office, making their way to their office, after excusing themselves. As they enter their office and take their seats at their respective desks, Sheppard looks over to Evan, waiting for his computer to wake up.

-"Do you really think the Genii are behind this?" - A knot is already forming in Sheppard's stomach.

-"Honestly, that's the only logical explanation I could come up with last night. If he had been talking about the Wraith, the village leader wouldn't have been so quick in making sure I didn't hear what the man had said."

-"If you're right, and I'm not saying you're not, then things are taking a turn that is as weird as all hell. As far as we know, the Genii never took people from other planets. So, why start now?"

-"I don't know what to tell you. All I know is that something is definitely wrong and if we are to continue to provide protection to our allies, we need to figure out what the hell is going on."

Sheppard nods, knowing Evan is right, but hoping that this is all just a big misunderstanding. He looks back at his computer, pulling up the teams' schedule and starts looking through it, trying to decide who to send and where, thinking that things are definitely getting weirder in the Pegasus Galaxy.
