Going Back To Normal-ish

The following week was all about restoring things to normal, or as normal as they could get. Lara had been worried that what had happened to Ava would scar her in some way, especially since she didn't know what had happened while she was gone.

She had talked to Jack about it and the next day he called her to tell her that as far as Ava was aware, it all had been a game to see if her dad was still a good soldier and that his goal would be to save her from the fake bad guys, which explained why she had started cheering when Evan and Jack entered the room as if they had won the freaking lotto.

Lara didn't ask, but she did wonder if that was something Henry had told the men to tell Ava or if maybe it was the Airman that took Ava's idea. Nonetheless, her daughter seemed fine, but she would still keep a close eye on her, just in case.

She is the kitchen making a snack for Ava when the doorbell rings, pulling her from her thoughts. Lara follows her daughter's footsteps as she runs to the door, hearing the little girl scream out "Dad!!!!" just as Lara turns the corner.

Lara watches Evan hug Ava tightly and pulling her up into his arms, before looking back at her, a small smile on his lips. She is shaken from her shock when she hears Ava ask if Evan can stay with them.

She looks back at her daughter and tells her of course, signaling Evan to come inside. He places Ava back on the ground and watches her run back into the living room, leaving them alone.

-"I probably should've call first, but I figured you wouldn't try to shoot me this time around." - He smirks softly at her.

-"There's still time."

She smiles at him, before walking back to the kitchen, Evan following her.

-"What're you doing here?" - Lara avoids looking at him, keeping her eyes on Ava's snack.

-"I wanted to talk to you and see Ava as well. I missed you both."

-"We can talk. Just give me a second."

Lara leaves to give Ava her snack, letting her know that she and Evan will be in the kitchen if she needs anything, Ava nodding and focusing back on her cartoons. Lara takes a deep breath, before heading back to the kitchen, thinking that this is going to either go great or be a total mess.
