He felt the sun on his eyes, pulling him out of sleep. Slowly, Max opened them, staring straight into the sunlight that shone through the window. As his eyes adjusted, he could see the silhouettes of other buildings, see a blue sky coupled with a few clouds. He could hear the sound of passing vehicles and occasionally the distant sound of people.
Sometimes, he found himself needing to do this mental check. He had to be absolutely sure he was really here, and not dreaming up some fantasy. Once again, he found himself here, present and alive in the moment. Once again, he felt relief flood through him.
It was only then that he realised where he was, and the current situation he was in.
It was weird. He felt fine. He felt warm under the blankets of the bed, yet, he was also strangely cold. Why was that? Max took one arm and lifted the blanket slightly, lowering his head and peeking under the blankets, before immediately looking back up with wide eyes, letting the blanket fall back on top of him.
He suddenly became acutely aware of his clothing problem... or lack of such things.
He also became aware of the weight on one half of his body, keeping his other arm trapped under it. He looked over, and his eyes widened.
She was there, right next to him. She was still asleep, her cheek nestled into his shoulder, with one hand resting gently just below his chest, her legs were tangled with his own, and from the fact that he could feel her own skin on his, he guessed she was of a similar situation in clothing as he was.
Which was none at all.
Suddenly it all became real to him. Their night together, had actually happened. And now, it was the next morning.
Just as his brain had finally managed to catch up with the situation, he felt Yasmina stir next to him. Her eyes squinted against the sunlight with a moan before she slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes were blurry for only a moment, before they focused in on Max's own. She seemed a little confused for just a second, then her expression changed into a shy smile, her face turning red.
"Hi...," Max blurted out stupidly.
"Hi," Yasmina giggled back immediately.
With the greeting out of the way, Max's brain blanked. What the hell happened now? They had taken a new step together, a whole new direction, one they couldn't really go back on. Not that he wanted them to.
In truth, he wanted this, more than he wanted how they were before. Already he could feel the change in both her and himself, and he enjoyed this new version.
Either Yasmina had been reading his mind, or was thinking of the same thing, because she opened her mouth, hesitated slightly, then continued. "So... what now?" She whispered.
Max hesitated to answer as he realised she was asking about far more than what it seemed. That question was loaded with others she was too afraid to ask.
'What do you want to happen with us?'
'Are you okay?'
'Are we okay?'
'Did you... enjoy it?'
Max smiled and leaned closer to her, his forehead just touching hers. She leaned in almost immediately, letting out a contented sigh. Or a relieved one. "Whatever we want to happen," he answered. "As long as we do it together".
He could feel her smile growing wider as her worries were put to rest. They stayed like that, their eyes shut, simply being in each others presence, letting the peacefulness of this one moment wash over them.
"Then I want to stay here," Yasmina said, suddenly snuggling right up to him and hiding under the blankets, leaving only the top of her head poking out.
