I’m still sort of jealous and completely insecure somehow. I’m still a wreck that realistically is not going to be fixed anytime soon. Not completely. Sure. I’m better than I once was, but I’m not where I want to be.
I know what my goal is though. It's a goal that I’ve set to better myself. I haven't had something like that before so that in itself is a success.
The little bit of fresh air was probably helping me take in my thoughts. Walking around was a good way to stay sane. I’m sure it's good for me. I’d say it's even helping keep me calm right now.
I can't stay out forever. Even if it is sort of tempting.
Sighing, I made my way back to our place, knowing he’d be waiting for me to get back. He wants to know I get back to him safely. It's a little odd but sweet anyway.
Taking a breath just for the sake of not blowing up, I looked at the ground a little bit away from our place.
As I did, I saw a familiar thing that made my heart stop.
A brick with a note.
Happiness is temporary
Death is forever
-CNo, no, no, no. No!
I know exactly what that note means. I know exactly what is being threatened.
I know exactly what I have to do if I want to keep my Aris safe.
I took my time like never before. Every step felt heavier and heavier, as if my body was rejecting this.
And despite that, I was there all too soon.
Holding my breath, I walked into the space, keeping my face calm. Not letting myself show any emotion, I took a spot on the cot beside him as I met his eyes.
Something was definitely off though as he stared at me, his arms crossed.
“I need to talk to you.”
“That’s funny since I have to talk to you,”He said firmly.
“I really should go first. It's important. It kind of-”
“When did you plan on telling me you had some stalker, giving you cryptic notes, signed C?”My jaw dropped completely, giving away all hope of denial. I don't exactly care about that though.
“How do you know that? Did you look through my stuff?”
“Oh no. You're not going to turn this around on me. You have some dangerous person after you, and you were just keeping it a secret?”
“He wasn't dangerous enough for me to tell you. It-”
“You know him?”“His name is Cain. I used to live with him when I had nowhere to go. He thought we had something, because he made me go to clubs and bring him home after,”I admitted.
“You still should have said something. You're playing with fire. Do you understand that? One wrong move and you're going to get burned.”
“I’m breaking up with you.”
He looked at me with confusion, his brows furrowed in thought for a moment before he got this flash of realization.
“Is this Cain guy making you do this?”
“Aris-”
“Is he?”“It doesn't matter. Bad things will happen if you stay with me-”
“Because of Cain.”“I can't risk something happening to you. Do you understand? If this is what it takes to keep you safe, this is what I’m going to do.”
“So with all due respect I really don't think some idiot with terrible handwriting, just absolutely atrocious, a five year old could do better-”
“Aris, enough about his handwriting.”
