Mary and I had to set up all the new supplies. While I’m obviously thankful for them, it was definitely a tedious task. Everything has its designated spot, and everything was important. Whether it was something to fix a papercut, a broken bone, or a hungover mess, it all had a place here.
“Weren't we supposed to get more gauze?”I asked, sure it had been on the list.
“You can run and check the supply room. Maybe it got mixed up?”She suggested.
“Good idea. See ya’ in a minute,”I agreed, setting the bandaids I just opened to the side. Walking out of the clinic, I tightened my ponytail before making my way there. It's just a room with wooden planks and nails that has anything we got too much of or didn't need on the floor. It only fits like three people, but that was probably all who needed to be there anyway.
It was really out of sight though, hidden past all the rooms. Probably because it was made in a day and was a sore sight.
Trudging along, I came to the thing that was so hideous but so important. Sighing, I opened the door, grabbing the flashlight right by it. Flicking it on, I stepped inside to start looking.
I stopped immediately when I heard footsteps. Holding my breath, I gripped it like a weapon as I turned around.
I don't know what I was expecting to see. Maybe Cain. Maybe a total stranger. Maybe even Mary.
Not the two dirtbags from the beach.
“Looking for this one, right?”the pale one that I first had the misfortune of meeting taunted.
I hadn't bothered to look at them before, seeing as every interaction was quick and hell. Now I was more than able to take them in.
The first one still had a noticeable bruise on his upper jaw and lower cheek. It was mainly black and yellow, but there was still a little purple in it. His light brown, almost dirty blonde hair, was cut right to his neck. His eyes were blue but not the peaceful kind I was used to seeing every day. A cold and demanding blue. He was just an inch taller than me but scrawny.
The other one was maybe a shade darker than Harriet, his hair cut just as short as what must be his leader but black and clearly curly. He barely reached his friends shoulders but was toned. He has to be the brawns of the the two. He had piercing green eyes that reminded me of Cain. Both of theirs actually did.
Because there isn't a hint of a soul behind them.
“People need gauze here so yeah,”I deadpanned, walking out of the room. Despite their demeanor, I knew better than to be afraid of them. That would only fuel them.
And I learned that I actually can't control my anger. Last time I tried to, Aris was getting ready to be an alibi. I can't snap like that again. I could actually murder someone.
I went to grab the box from his hands only for him to hold on as tight as possible. Knowing I was still strong, I pulled on it with both hands just for him to start pulling back.
“Let go, you dumbass,”I insulted, gritting my teeth.
“This won't take back what you are.”
His words made me freeze for a moment. A moment was all he needed to force the box into my hands, catching me off guard as I fell to the floor, crates with nails sticking out cutting my arms as I landed with a harsh thud. The wind was knocked out of me as I groaned, shutting my eyes at the pain.
“Careful. She might just kill you for that,”his friend snickered, his voice closer to me. Taking a deep breath, I opened my eyes, seeing them tower above me.
