Aris’s P.O.V

She looked nervous. Terrified even. She has since the moment I woke up. She was staring at nothing, almost shaking in her spot.

She won't say anything about it. About why. She's not denying her fear, but she's not outright saying it either.

“Are you sure you want to go?”I asked, looking at her with her long sleeves and covered body.

“Yeah,”She shrugged, glancing back before facing forward.

“What are you looking for?”I asked, doing the same. There was nothing there. Just the Safe Haven and the usual things it held.

“Nothing,”She insisted.

“Y/N-”
“I’m fine, okay? Let's just go,”She snapped.

There was a sense of urgency in her voice. Almost a panic but a lot of irritation. That was the strongest part about her tone.

Despite her words, she didn't move. She just stood there, sighing as she rubbed her forehead. When she put her hand down, there seemed to be a hint of regret in her expression.

“I’m sorry. I’m just . . . I just want to get to the beach. I don't have to swim, but I can't stay home right now.”

The words seemed to leave her without an actual second thought. She seemed to be understanding it all now. People, emotions, apologies.

“It’s okay. I just need to know if you're alright. You understand, right?”

“Yeah. I am. You don't have to worry about me,”She assured me, wrapping her arms around my shoulders.

“I know, but I love you. Of course I worry about you,”I told her, doing the same.

“I’ll worry about me.”

“And you should. It just never hurts to have a little backup.”

Not responding to that, she gently kissed my cheek before meeting my gaze.

“I’m fine. I’ll take care of myself. I’ve always found a way to do that.”

“Well, it doesn't hurt to have someone else do the same.”

“Oh god, I think I just threw up in my mouth.”

Pulling apart, we turned to look at Minho who was standing there with a disgusted expression.

“There are worse things we could be doing,”I said simply as she unwrapped her arms from me.

“I don't think anything could ever be worse than that.”

“Oh, slim it, Minho,”Newt said as he rolled his eyes.

“Yeah. Slim it, Minho,”Thomas mocked.

“Could we just get to the beach? I’m pretty sure we're behind,”Brenda chipped in.

“We can't be behind if there wasn't a set time,”Thomas pointed out.

“For manner's sake, let's get going anyway,”Newt suggested.

“That's such a British thing to say.’

Letting them do whatever that is, I took her hand as we were back to walking. She kept her eyes locked straight ahead, almost a contradiction to her slightly swinging our arms.

“So you seriously don't plan on swimming?”I asked as we moved from the grass to the sand. She didn't give a definite answer. Just shrugged her shoulders while avoiding eye contact. “Well, even if you don't, you're out here. So thanks.”
