They dropped me off at my house - and I was very appreciative. I gave Braedon a quick peck before heading inside, waving as they drove off. As soon as I opened the door, I saw him. My dad. Out of his room for the first time in forever.
"Dad...?" I quietly called, and he practically jumped off the couch and to me.
"Oh, Rory... is she okay? Where was she?" He questioned, and I flinched.
"Dad, too many questions..."
"Oh right, sorry kiddo... Is Lorelei okay?" He asked, and I averted my gaze.
"Yes, and no..." I murmured.
"What is that supposed to mean!?" He raised his voice slightly, and I cowered. He sighed and sat back down on the couch.
"Sorry kiddo, I just... I'm worried about her, and I'm sure you are too." I felt a little salty when he said this. Yes, I know he was worried, and so am I. But it doesn't seem like he cares that I went missing for months, and Lorelei goes missing for... how long has she actually been missing? I don't think very long, otherwise the police would've known...
"Dad, you know I was missing too? I was kidnapped too? And yet you act like I've been here this entire time..." I saw his body tense.
"Kiddo... I, I didn't know. You know how I've been in my room for so long and-"
"And you didn't hear my voice for months. You would have known without being out of your room. God, dad, stop picking favorites," I scoffed, grabbing my phone and slamming the door behind me before he could say anything else.
The first number I dialed was Braedon. Why? No clue, honestly. Maybe it's because he was the first person who came to mind. Maybe it's because I trust him so much. Either way, I called him. I waited for a few minutes before deciding to start walking. To get away from her. "Hey, Rory! What's up?" His bubbly voice echoed through the phone.
"Hey, hun... can I come over for a bit? I don't want to go back home right now..." I murmured, and I heard Braedon's hollered, "Mom, Dad, Rory's coming over!" I chuckled softly and kept walking to his house. "Alright!" His mom, Lila Anderson, hollered back. "Alright, Rors, does my mom or dad need to pick you up or will you be okay walking?"
"I'll walk, don't worry. It's only around a 10 minute walk for now," I reassured him, and he sighed.
"If you say so..." I kept walking in silence, surprised Braedon didn't just hang up. He must've been thinking. "So, babe... why are you wanting to come over? Why not just stay home? If you want to tell me, that is." I sucked in a breath and chewed on my lip.
Do I tell him? Do I not? He's my boyfriend, but...
"Just small family issues, nothing bad. Don't worry about me, okay?" Just then, it started to rain, and I groaned. "It's raining, damnit...."
"Get out of the rain, idiot!" Braedon scolded, and I just chuckled.
Damn was he cute when mad.
"You expect me to cover from the rain when I'm on the sidewalk?" I asked, which earned a soft 'hmph!' from him.
"Fine, fine! Try to cover yourself, and I'm telling mom to pick you up!"
"B, calm down, it's fine. I don't want to be a burden and make her go out of her way to pick me up," I admitted.
"Rors, I'm not letting you come to my house and get sick! So please, just let me. It's not a big deal for her, okay?" He told me, and I sighed.
"Fine. How long?"
"2 minutes, max."

I sat in the backseat, Braedon holding me as he dries me off with a couple towels.
"You okay, Rory?" Lila asked, and I nodded.
"A little..." I murmured, which frankly - was a lie. I wasn't okay. I was shivering, my teeth were chattering, and Braedon wasn't warm enough for me. She must've noticed because she turned up the heat a little, and by the time we got back to his house, I was feeling a little better, thankfully. Braedon helped me upstairs and into his bed, even though I kept refusing.
"B, I'm fine, let me go!" I refused, and he shoved me down on my bed - not roughly, but firmly.
"And I said no. You're going to snuggle up with me whether you like it or not, okay?" He told me, and I smiled softly.
"Sure, bubs." I pulled him next to me, and he made sure we were both comfortable before turning on the TV. We ended up falling asleep next to each other - our first night cuddling together.
