Chapter 53

Today was the day. The day I came back to school.

I had ironed out my school uniform from last year yesterday, so it looked new. It was a little small, but I think I can get a size up, right?

I shrugged it off as I said 'goodbye!' to my dad and walked on the sidewalk, backpack on my shoulders.

Feels good to be going back to school, right? RIGHT.

I chuckled, finally finding peace with the voices. They weren't hurting me in the psychiatric hospital. They were actually there for me. They helped me through all those awful times. They made me feel better when I figured out Braedon was being tortured, they gave me peace.

Speaking of Braedon...

"Rors!" My beautiful boyfriend called from just down the sidewalk. I chuckled and walked to him, as he ran to me, and we met in my arms. "Rory, I missed you..." I chuckled and scooped him up, letting him feel a little taller (because he's only 5"5' but we love a short king, am I right?)

"I missed you too, hon." I carried him over my shoulder, earning cute little giggles and squeals as I walked. He started to ramble about his weekend to me as we walked, and I just listened. He's so cute, damnit... HE IS ADORABLE.

I chuckled, and Braedon said, "what's so funny?" I shook my head and placed a kiss on his cheek as I set him down.

"Nothing, bud. Cmon, you can walk. I'm getting tired."

He huffed and ran ahead a little, still in my sight. I followed him as we got closer and closer to our school. Just as we got there, the bell rang.

"You ready, babe?" I nodded.

"Ready as I'll ever be."

We had to separate due to Hawksigh High changing the way they teach - separating each grade. Which was really annoying since I couldn't see my favorite boy, but it'll be okay. I'll see him after school at least. Plus, he lives close to me, so we can see each other even more.

Anyways, I have whole different classes and teachers and whatnot this year. I barely knew my teachers and classmates last year, so this will be fun...

I looked down at the schedule and map of the school in my hands. Apparently Hawksigh High is trying out 'houses' (still no clue what that means) to try to break the grades up into smaller groups. So, I'm in the Bay of Bengal this year. Interesting name. DID YOU KNOW THE BAY OF BENGAL IS AN ACTUAL BAY THAT IS LOCATED BETWEEN THE INDIAN OCEAN AND INDOCHINESE PENINSULA, WHICH IS LOCATED RIGHT BY THE BENGAL REGION?

I chuckled at the voice as I followed the map to my new 'house'. Since when have you been such a factbook, voice? I AM JUST STATING THE OBVIOUS.

I snickered as I came upon the Bay of Bengal corner of the school. To be honest, I was overwhelmed. Like, really overwhelmed. There was probably around one hundred kids, five teachers and a lot of lockers. Everyone was crowded by their locker. This is gonna be a long day, isn't it...

Just then, a teacher walked up to me and greeted me.

"Hello! Rory, I assume?" I nodded, and she walked me to my locker, above another kid.

Are you kidding me!? Stacked lockers, really? They couldn't keep the lockers from last year, where they weren't stacked? Ugh, this is gonna be hell...

"This is going to be your new locker! Oh, before I forget, here!" She handed me a sticky note, then walked back to the other teachers. I looked down at the sticky note, which read, "23-34-18." I groaned but repeated it in my head as I waited for the kid under my locker to move. Once he did, I messed with my lock until I finally got it open.

I then put all my stuff away - quickly, not like some people - and brought my pencil case and a few notebooks to my Advisory also known as Homeroom. God, I hope we won't need Chromebooks anytime soon... YOU'RE GOING TO JINX US! The voice scolded, and I smiled.

Maybe, maybe not. We'll see.
