The other officers walked back to us, reporting back nothing. I grimaced as I stood up, the officer who helped me staying by my side.
"Rory, I don't think you should be doing this right now..." He whispered, but I shook my head and stumbled down the hallway, determined to find her. "Rory, please!" He called, but I started running. Before I knew it, I wasn't in a normal hallway. There were no hybrids or any noise. It was dead silent. I kept walking for what felt like hours, calling out Lorelei's name, until finally, I met up with the officers again.
"Rory, there you are!" The one officer exclaimed, running to me and catching me. "I told you to not run off, didn't I?" He scolded me, but I was too saddened. Lorelei wasn't here.
"She's not here..." I murmured, and the officer's expression softened slightly.
"Oh, kiddo... I'm sorry..." He whispered and held me as I cried. For my poor baby sister, for all the hybrids here, for all of them.
"If we can't help Lori, can we try to help all the hybrids...?" I asked softly, sniffling and wiping my face before looking up at the officer.
"Of course-"
"Not," another voice boomed. I froze as I recognized it. The man who kidnapped my sister.
"You're..."
"Her father." The man smirked and held up my little sister by her neck as she squirmed and grabbed at his hand around her neck.
"Let her go!" I yelled, going to lunge before the officer held me back.
"Kiddo, let the others handle it, okay?" He whispered, and I tensed.
"But Lori, she... she needs me."
"I know she does, but we can't let you get hurt, okay?" He told me, and I sighed before nodding.
"I guess so..." I took one last look over my shoulder as the officers surrounded ___ before the officer led me out of the building, using his walkie talkie to call for backup.

They couldn't save her. She was gone. My baby sister was gone.
"He used some sort of smoke bomb then poof - just disappeared!" One of the officers explained to the press. I clenched my fist, until I felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around my waist.
"I'm so sorry...." B. Oh, honey, you don't have anything to be sorry about...
"B, it wasn't your fault, I promise. In fact, I'm glad you had me escape. If I didn't, Lori would be hurt, and by the looks of it, she was already in critical condition. Plus, we saved all the others there." I felt his grip tighten on me, and I put my hands over his, comforting him.
"Do you think she'll be alright?" He asked, face buried into my back.
"I hope she'll be okay. Does Aria know?"
"Yeah, I know..." Aria approached us, arms crossed, and I saw her hands grabbing at her sleeves. Tightly.
"Ari, I'm sorry-"
"Rory, don't be sorry, please. Being sorry isn't going to save her from that awful man, okay?" She told me, and I nodded.
"You're right." One of the officers walked over to us.
"Aria, right?" The officer asked, and she nodded.
"Yeah, I'm Aria, why?"
"My co-worker said you knew about the man holding Lorelei captive. Can you tell me what you know about him?" She nodded and the officer led her to a group of other officers, and they talked.
Braedon and I stayed together for the rest of the day, until we were told to go home.
"Wait, before we go home..." I called out to the officer who was with me in the lab.
"Whatcha need, kiddo?" He asked, and I hesitated. When I saw his smile, I went for it.
"What are you planning to do with the hybrids?" He took a moment to think.
"Well, we don't know. We were thinking of foster care, but since there's so many, we... we're still thinking. Are you worried about them?" I nodded, and he smiled at me. "They'll be in good hands, okay?"
"Okay." I took Braedon's hand and was about to lead him to my car, before realizing - I was driven here by the officers.
"You okay, Rory?" Braedon asked, and I nodded.
"Yeah, I just... don't know how I'm going to get home," I admitted, and he sighed.
"Well, I can ask my parents if your house isn't too far from mine?" He offered.
"You sure? I wouldn't want to bother them..."
"Oh you hush! You're my boyfriend, they wouldn't mind," He reassured me. Even though I didn't believe him, I let him drag me over to his parent's car. "Mom, Dad, can you drop Rory off at his house?" He asked his parents, and I cringed slightly.
"Mrs and Mr. Anderson, you don't need to drop me off, it's okay. I can walk from your house to mine, it's not a very long walk," I told them, but his mom waved me off.
"Oh, Rory, no need! It's not a big deal, so we're dropping you off. Just tell me your address, okay?" She told me, and I smiled softly. I told her my address, then Braedon and I sat in the back of the van, and the girls all sat in the middle. Before I knew it, we were driving away from the place my sister was taken.
