*Y/N'S POV

~AT THE JUDGE'S VERDICT~

"Mr. Foreman, have you reached the verdict?" The Judge in the trial said.

"We have, Your Honor." A jury said as he stood. I saw Judge Palmer, Hank, and C.P. stands as well.

"What say would you matter on the state of Indiana vs Joseph Palmer on the charge of murder in the first degree?" The judge asked as I held Glen's hand in support. I felt him squeeze my hand and I looked at the jury.

"We find the defendant not guilty." I sighed and heard a couple of murmurs in the audience. There is only one more verdict to go.

"And on the lesser included charge of voluntary manslaughter?" The judge asked the jury.

"We find the defendant guilty." I felt the room was shocked and disagreed with the verdict. I held Glen and Dale's hands to let them know I was with them.

"Move for sentencing, Your Honor." Dickham said, the judge for the other party.

"This case has been the most tragic occurrence as I am required to impose an appropriate sentence. But as you know, all too well, sir. That is the job. I am therefore sentencing you to serve 4 years in State Prison. Sentences to begin forthwith. Deputy, please take Judge Palmer into custody." The judge said. The murmurs of the audiences began as they cooed over the judge's sentence. Just then, Glen stand and called judge. The two of them hugged tightly and whispered some words into each other. Then, Dale went to Judge and he said some words to Dale.

"Y/N." I heard Judge called me. I stood and went to him as he opened his arms for me to hugged him. "Thank you for being with Mary before she died. I thanked you so much for looking over at our family despite your situation with Henry. Look out for yourself, okay? You were the daughter I never had."

"Judge, take good care of yourself in there. I'll try to visit you at times." I said as I break the hug.

"You don't need to visit. I'll be okay." He said as he walked to the deputy and got handcuffed.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, thank you for your service. You're excused. This court is adjourned." The judge hit his gavel. Everybody began vanishing inside the court as I take a look at Hank who is silently crying at the result. CP walked out of the court in disbelief. Dickham stood and was about to say something to Hank but as he saw how gloomy Hank is, he left. I stand and went over to Hank.

"Hank, honey." I softly said as I held his shoulder. I felt him held my hand with his free hand, as the other still held his head and cover himself as he cried at the loss of his case. Not just any case, his father's case. "If you wanna cry, let it all out. We're all alone, I'm here with you." I said and he stand to hugged me tightly and sobbed hard. I rubbed his back to calm him down and gave his cheek a kiss.

"I failed him, Y/N. He--he's not--proud--of me."

"Don't say that, Hank. He's proud that he got a lawyer son who made sure to defend him in everyway possible. You stand by his side even though he made you feel shit at times. I am proud of you, Hank. I am proud of how much you endured your stay with your dad, you endured the times where there's a lot of argument from the both of you, and I'm proud you did everything in your power to be strong to stay by his side no matter what the circumstances are." I said. I felt him nodded his head as he broke the hug and he wiped his eyes with his hankie.

"Do you want me to drive you home?" I asked him as I held his cheeks in my hands. He only nodded and grabbed his things. He gave me his car key and I held his hand as I led him outside the courtroom, where Glen and his family, and Dale awaits.

"Let's get going." I said and I pulled Hank with him, with the family in our tail.

~AT THE PALMER'S RESIDENCE~

I dropped Glen, his family, and Dale at their house. I told them that Hank would be much likely be staying with me. Glen's son brought Hank's things in the car and I drove us back to my house. When we reached the house, I saw Hank went straight to my room. I followed Hank and saw him removed his coat and his tie. he unbuckled a couple of buttons and sighed as he placed his hands on his head.

"You okay, honey?" I asked as I opened the door.

"Can you stay here with me?" He asked desperately.

"I love to stay." I said. "Why don't you change into a comfy clothes before we cuddled?"

"Okay." He said. He immediately changed in the bedroom. I went into my bathroom and changed my clothes as well. As soon as I'm done, I walked back  to my bedroom and saw him laying down under the covers. I walked near him and lay beside him. I lay on his chest as he began to caress my arm that is laying on his chest.

"Did I do everything?" Hank asked. I looked up at him and saw him looking at the ceiling.

"Hank, I believe you did everything in your capable mind about Judge's case."

"But if I did, why did he still end up in jail? I should have saved him from jail time."

"Hank, none of it was your fault, okay? You did everything. I mean--EVERYTHING! You tried to be professional with your father even though you have your differences with your father." I turn to looked at him and he looked at me while showing his small smile.

"What would I do without you?" He said as he grabbed my face and lean in to give me a kiss on the lips.

"You'll be fine, Hank." I said as I broke the kiss. "You always will."
