*Mariah's POV*

Kellin sat behind me on the four-wheeler, his hands clinging to my jacket for dear life. Jamie was in front of me on one of the dirtbikes, Jeydon behind us on the other. Damon should be coming up to meet us soon, but we didn't want to miss a minute where we could be riding. Anyways, Kellin needed to learn how to ride before Damon came up.

Helping Kellin wasn't as awkward as I would have though after last night. I've learned that situations like this are only awkward when you make them awkward, and I wasn't going to make this awkward.

Actually, his reactions when we were going were really amusing. We stopped an a straightaway that was only long enough to stop quickly. I hopped off and lifted the shade on my helmet.

"Bad ass," Kellin said. "Why did you get off?"

"Scooch forward," I instructed. "Its your turn to drive."

His eyes widened. "No, no, no, nononono." He held up his hands. "I can't."

"These are the easy trails! And I will be right behind you! You will be fine," I assured him. "Now scoot up!"

He did as I told him hesitantly. I climbed on behind him, one hand holding onto his pocket and the other holding on the the bars behind me. He pressed the gas, then the brake, creating one awkward and jerky movement.

I tried to surpress a laugh and failed miserably. "Shut up!" he yelled. "I told you I couldn't-!"

"Calm down!" I giggled. I put my hand over his and moved his foot so I had control of the gas. I pushed his thumb down on the gas and we followed Jamie through the trails. Out here was honestly my favorite place to be, especially when you rode by the place where you could see the street below you. Kellin almost died there, forgetting how to breath.

We got back to the campsite and Damon was just pulling in. I took control from Kellin, scaring the shit out of him and I sped up and stopped only inches from Damon's toes. Damon, however, didn't even flinch.

Kellin jumped off as soon as possible, taking his helmet off. I was giggling maliciously. "You're psycho!" he exclaimed.

"Why torture him?" Jamie asked, coming up beside me.

"I find it amusing," Jeydon said. Taking off his helmet and walking up beside us.

"Me too," I chuckled. I looked Jeydon over. I honestly couldn't help it. I always thought that guys wearing motocross gear were attractive and, let's face it, Jeydon looked hot.

"You like what you see?" Jeydon mused.

I rolled my eyes. "If that's what you need to tell youself." I turned the four-wheeler off and hopped down, grabbing a bottle of water.

My parents hopped on the bikes and took off somewhere. Jamie, Jeydon, and Damon went inside, all in search of food.

Kellin tapped my shoulder and I nearly jumped out of my boots. "Can I talk to you for a minute?"

"Sure," I answered skeptically. I followed him over to the shelter near the fancy porta-potty, taking a seat at one of the tables.

"About last night-" he started.

I didn't let him finish. I had a bad habit of interrupting people. "It's better left alone."

"I strongly disagree," he stated. He grabbed my jacket and pulled me to my feet. "Wow. You really have no mud on you."

"I told you! I repel it!" I looked down at my mud covered boots, the only thing that had any mud on it.

"I wanted to kiss you, but I felt extremely stupid." He had his arms on the small of my back, rubbing tiny circles with the tips of his fingers.

"Why?" I asked, looking up at him.

"Because I didnt think you wanted me to."

"I di-" I cut myself off. "You honestly just left Katelynne. Do you really think that any of this is right?"

His hands dropped to his sides. "I never loved her, but I wasn't going to let my daughter grow up-"

"Without a father," I finished. "I know. You've told me."

"And that means that I have told you more than I have ever told her."

"But I didn't ask you to do-"

He was the one interrupting me this time, but not by just cutting me off. By kissing me. And I completely let him. In fact, I kissed him back.

*Jeydon's POV*

Jamie sent me out to ask Mariah and Kellin what they wanted for lunch, but they weren't outside. If I knew Mariah, and I like to think I do, she probably went to the "fancy porta-potty".

I walked around the line of trees and down the path a little, only to see Mariah and Kellin kissing. The skip fell out of my step as I marched closer.

Although I had no right to be, I was pissed off. Maybe I had no actual right, but she flinched away when I tried to kiss her. There was no way in hell I was okay with this. And how did we know that Kellin wouldn't turn out to be a douche bag and break her heart? I mean, he had just exposed that he had been with a girl for years and had never really loved her.

Now that I think about it, I had every right to be pissed off. "Hey!" I yelled.

They broke apart and Mariah blushed a bright red. "What? Time for lunch?"

"Yeah. I gotta talk to you, though." Kellin went ahead and, very smartly, avoided coming close to me.

Mariah came a little closer to me. "What's up?" she asked.

"What the hell was that?" I demanded. "I didn't buy you VIP tickets to help you meet the bands and get all cuddly with Kellin! I bought them to make you happy!"

She slumped her shoulders, not making eye contact. She curled her shoulders in, as if she could make herself smaller. "I didn't mean to," she said quietly.

"Didn't mean to kiss him? Well, from where I was standing, it seemed like you did!"

"Stop yelling at me!" she shouted, finally looking up. I flinched at the power in her normally small voice. She looked like she was going to cry again. "Why shouldn't I be allowed to kiss whoever I want to, huh?" She took a step closer. "Its not like it's anything serious!"

"Maybe not but do you want to get hurt again?" It hurt for me to say these things. The look in her eyes made the words burn in my throat. "Do you think he won't? He just left his wife! Do you really want to be responsible for that?"

I saw her lower lip tremble and all the color drain from her face. She curled her hands into fists and ran back to the campsite. I felt awful, like scum. I turned around just in time to see her pull on her helmet and jump on the four-wheeler. Next thing I knew, she flew past me and onto the trails.
