"Your bed is really warm, Reef

"Your bed is really warm, Reef." I mumbled, my voice thick with sleep. I heard Reef chuckle from above me, his breath fanning against my hair.

"Baby, that's not a bed." I fluttered my eyes open, adjusting to the brightness of the room from the sunlight protruding through the window to find myself strewn across Reef.

"Oh. Would you look at that."

"You don't seem disappointed," I looked up as Reef spoke, taking in his features, a small smile dancing across his face.

"Mm, I s'pose not," I hummed, drawing a nail across his chest, tracing shapes lightly against his skin. He shivered at my touch, goose bumps trailing in my finger's wake.

"Do you know what we have on for today?" I asked, glancing at Reef who was scrolling on his phone. He put it down and turned his attention to me.

"Just classes. I have a meeting with Coach about the draft at 1:30, and then there's the annual Greenfield Ball that the school has planned an assembly for. It's only optional to attend, otherwise they'll be sending an email out to the whole college with the details."

The annual Greenfield Ball was a yearly event where everyone in the university got together for... well, for a ball. You get to dress up, look pretty, and meet new people. It's kind of the whole point of the ball. It was held at the beginning of the new year, so these new people could meet each other. Despite the whole university invite, not everyone turns up. It's mainly the first years and second years, but senior's and such still turn up; just rarely. The reason for the early planning obviously happened for decorations, numbers, and allowing others to prepare for the ball. It was kind of a big thing. Or at least the University tried to make it out to be.

"Was anyone else selected for the draft from your team, what about Leonel?" I questioned, rolling away back to my side of the bed and pushing myself up against the headboard.

"No, just me." A comfortable silence engulfed the room after that, both of us minding our business in the comfort of each other's presence.

"Maman!" I called, slipping into the kitchen.

"Ivette!" Came her response.

"Oh, I have such brilliant news!" I spoke, my heart racing with anticipation for her reaction. I wasn't scared- no. I knew she was my biggest fan. She'd support me through anything. She was my mum. My world, my anchor. She'd understand the amount of happiness this brought  me.

I took her hands into mine, a smile spreading on my face.

"Ivette Adilene, are you pregnant?" She gasped, looking down at my stomach. My eyes widened, my jaw dropped.

"No!" I exclaimed, dropping her hands and bring my own to my stomach. "Are you calling me fat!?"

"No! No!" She quickly corrected herself. "I just thought..." she shook her head, clearing it of any other silly thoughts.
