chapter 9: Celadon city!

It's been a couple of days since the SS Anne insadant and Y/n hadn't been talking to his pokemon much,
He felt a little bit off.

"Hey you!" Y/n turned around to see a kid a little younger then him point a PokeBall in his direct,
"Let's have a battle!"

The kid threw out a PokeBall releasing a Diglett,
"Diglett dig Diglett dig"

"Ivysaur, Soler beam." Said Y/n in a uninterested tone as Ivysaur's single attack took out the ground type before it could react,"Diglett! Are you alright!?"

Ash was annoying, dumb and careless but he was still one of Y/n's best friends, they had gone to school together played together and practically been raised to gather and after learning that ash might have drowned to a toll on his mental health.

In Celadon city's pokemon center Y/n is standing infront of the free to use phone as it rang, he was trying to call professor oak, he was told by nurse joy that professor oak left a message for Y/n to call him.

*Ring ring ring ring ring*

After it rang a couple of times, the phone was answered by Professor Oak. "Professor Oak, did you want to-" Y/n began, his expression monotone.

But he was quickly interrupted by Professor Oak, who shouted from the other side of the screen, "Y/n! It's Ash! He's alive!"

"What? Really?" Y/n asked, a smile growing on his face.

"Yes, he's fine! I've gotten word that Ash survived the shipwreck and washed ashore at a theme park," said the professor, his voice filled with relief.

"That's... good to hear," Y/n replied, his smile widening. "I'm glad."

"That's all I wanted to tell you. Good luck with your adventure, my boy," said the professor before hanging up.

Y/n stood there for a few moments, gripping Ivysaur's PokeBall tightly. Tears welled up and ran down his face, but the smile remained as he looked up at the ceiling,"That's great to hear."

"Y/n?"

Y/n turned around to see Rin standing behind him with a worried expression,"Are... Are you alright?"
She asked as Y/n wiped away his tears and smiled at her,"Yeah."

"Okay but if you need anything you can talk to me you know, even though we don't know each other very well." Said Rin making Y/n nod.

"Thanks, your a good friend." Thanked Y/n making Rin blush,"Oh stop it you're making me blush!" She said as she lightly punched him.

"Hehe, anyways I'm gonna go get something to eat." Said Y/n as he began walking away but Rin Grabbed him by the arm,"Not so fast crybaby, let's have a battle!" Exclaimed Rin as she pointed her PokeBall at Y/n with a excited smile.

"Sure but who ever loses is paying for lunch." Said Y/n as he took out a PokeBall,"It's a deal!"

Outside of the Pokemon center Y/n and Rin stood opposite each other with PokeBall in hand as a crowd gathered around them to watch the battle that was about to take place.

"Purrloin go!" Rin shouted as she threw out a PokeBall releasing a Purple cat,"Purrloin? Guessing it's a dark type, Vulpix go!" Yelled Y/n as he threw out a PokeBall making Vulpix materialize.

The two pokemon had a small showdown as they gleared barked and growled at each other.

"Vulpix use ember!"

Vulpix jumped into the air a fired a burst of fire hitting purrloin.

"Purrloin use scratch!" Yelled Rin as Purrloin ran towards Vulpix and began to scratch at the fire types face but Vulpix skillfully and gracefully dodged out of the way landing infront of Y/n.
