"Fuck. If I wasn't a light sleeper, I'd be screwed right now. I'd probably be back in the same max security prison cell." Emma says, looking stressed while sat on the cabin's sofa.
A few people joined us in the cabin last night after the attack.
"I was awake and I heard a noise so I went to check it out, that's when they grabbed me." Niko says, sat on the arm of the sofa. "I thought it was just a bird or something that had flown into the window, imagine my suprise when the full government gang grab me."
"How'd you get away?" Declan, one of the other people staying at the cabin, asks.
"Maliah." He states. "I thought there was no way I was getting out until she came along."
I almost killed Liam.
I take a deep breath before excusing myself and going back into the bedroom.
A minute passes before Niko follows after me. He shuts the door behind him.
"Are you ok?" He asks.
I shake my head, knowing he'll see straight through the "I'm fine" charade. That's the thing with having someone who knows you inside and out.
He sits on the end of the bed, silently telling me that he's listening.
I let out a breath. "I almost killed Liam." I state. "And I would've. I would've killed him for you and that scares me."
"Sometimes in this world it's either kill or be killed. The world is messed up, you're the only beautiful thing in it." He says. "Anyway, it's not like you actually killed him, though the world would be better off if you did." He mumbles the last part.
"Am I a bad person?" I ask.
"You're the furthest away from a bad person." He assures me.
"I just feel like I'm making all the wrong decisions."
"You can't always make the right decisions, Blue. You have to give yourself permission to mess up."
"But killing somebody? That's not who I am."
"You weren't going to do it for the fun of it but you were faced with an impossible situation."
I let out a tired breath.
"When are we meeting up with the others?" I ask, switching topics.
"We're going to start heading off after everyone has finished brunch."
"Do you think they'll be there?" I ask.
Niko knows a meetup spot but we don't know for sure what to expect.
"I hope so."
Lucky enough for us, there are a few different clothes in the wardrobe that we can change into. There aren't many options to choose from but I can't really complain given the circumstances. It's not like we can chance going back to the mansion right now. There are probably still people surrounding the place.
