The walls of the maze loom over me and I'm highly aware that they could attack at any time. Hael has made them grow like this, he could just as easily make them shrink or attack. It's a bit intimidating.
I'm sure they've done this to make it harder for anybody to stop them as the maze is blocking the entrance. Anybody that wants to be in has to go through it.
I'm not the best at mazes but I'm also not the worst especially not with my powers.
I reach a dead end but instead of turning back around and starting again, I hold out my hand and force the water out of the grass walls. Shrivelled up, they fall to the floor and I now have a new route because grass can't grow without water.
I continue until I reach a wooden garden gazebo.
I freeze in place, looking straight at the gazebo when I feel someone behind me. I can tell immediately that it's him.
I didn't come in my super suit, I wanted to seem less intimidating. They already know who I am anyway so it's not as though it's a secret. I wonder if Nikolai looks the same as when I saw him a few days ago.
I hesitate as I don't know what to say now that he's here.
Before I know it I'm spun around, my back is pressed against the wall and two strong hands are wrapped around my neck.
My shocked eyes meet Nikolai's calm ones.
His hands stop my intake of air. My mouth parts automatically to try and gain some air in return.
I have no intention of hurting him so I don't fight back like I normally would.
The lack of oxygen makes my head fuzzy and only when my survival senses kick in do my hands try and pull his off. The deprivation causes my weakness and so even as I do try and pull his hand off me they don't budge.
Black dots cloud my vision, my eyes squeeze shut and I accept my fate.
After what feels like a long eternity later, the pressure on my neck is relived and oxygen rushes to my aching lungs.
I double over, gasping and trying to make up from the temporary loss of oxygen. I can barely even think straight, all my mind and body knows is that I need air and quickly.
"Why aren't you fighting back?" He asks, clearly confused. I think that's why he let go.
I stand up normally again, my breaths still uneven and coming out in harsh pants.
"You were right." I say breathlessly and he waits for me to continue. He's stood there seemingly unbothered after just almost killing me. "They're bad people." I state. "I'm a bad person. I- I couldn't see what they were doing and I helped them. I was just trying to be a good person and help people but instead I ended up being the reason for people's deaths." I say quickly, struggling to get everything out.
