My eyes flick up to meet his.

"Are you real?" I ask Nikolai, who's stood in front of me as dashingly handsome as ever.

He looks down at himself. "I mean, I look pretty real to me." He states.

"How are you here?" I question. "How am I here?"

"You kind of got shot and fell onto this weird gadget thing and then disappeared. I don't know the logistics of it but it must be some sort of portal cause it took you here. And then I clicked a few buttons and I ended up here too. You must have clicked something when you fell onto it."

I stand up from my spot on the cobbled wall and Niko opens his arms, knowing I'm about to run into them.

"I thought I was going crazy." I state as he wraps his arms around me in a bear hug.

"Nope, not crazy."

"Everyone was gaslighting me into thinking I'd been here all along." And now I need to find out why.

I have my irrefutable proof that im not crazy.

If I wasn't pissed about them sending me away, I'm sure as hell pissed about them pretending that I was never gone.

"I've missed you." I tell him.

"You've only been gone a few hours."

"A few tortuous hours." I correct, remembering the so-called "date" I was just on.

"That's true." He admits. "So this is Lavenem, huh? I've never been on an alien planet before."

"Just wait until I tell you how my day has been."

I catch Niko up while we walk back into the palace and in the direction of my room. I deliberately avoid my parents as I have missed this place and I don't feel like arguing right now.

I've missed them so much but that doesn't mean I'm going to blindly follow what they say. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions, even a king or queen.

"So this is my room." I say, opening the double doors leading to my bedroom.

"This is actually pretty much how I pictured it." He states as we step inside and I shut the door behind us.

"I mean, the ceiling is higher up than I imagined." He says, looking up at the above average height, ceiling.

"Is that all you could come up with?" I ask.

"Pretty much, yeah."

"So you could've guessed that I have chandeliers?"

"Hundred percent."

"And that my room was filled with blue and white colours?"

"A variation of the sea shades." He states. Dang it, he got me there.
