"This place is definitely an upgrade from the cemerty house." Emma states. "There's actual working electric that doesn't falter, running water, comfy beds and a lot more privacy."
And it's a show house so there's furniture and even a tv.
"You were staying in a cemetery house?" Ella asks.
"Not all of us are fancy lawyers." I tease. "There's not many places to hide out when you're on the run from the entire government. Everywhere is government owned and all the security cameras are after you. It's harder than it looks." I state. "Side note, this sofa is very comfy, great work Mark." I say and he smiles in reply.
Ella's eyes freeze on the low volume tv. "Wait, turn this up." She says, waving her hand at Jameson, who has the remote.
He turns the TV volume up and I see a familiar face.
Allison.
My old boss from the government. The one that now hates my guts.
Oh dear.
This can not be good.
"Hi, I'm Allison." She says brightly and it reminds me of the first time we met. I thought that she was good. It's safe to say she's good at manipulation.
"There's a lot of you that over the years have grown fond of the superhero Aquamarine." She says, stood at a podium reading her lines from a sheet of paper. "I'm here to tell you that she's not all she's cracked up to be." I roll my eyes. Here we go. I knew this was coming, but my reputation being ruined was the risk I was willing to take for the greater good. "She's a liar, and she's being manipulating you all. Yes, we did work closely with her, but she'd always go off track and cause us more problems. There was nothing she cared more about than her image. She only helped people when the cameras were watching."
"That's not fucking true." I say to the tv. I know she can't hear me but I'm annoyed so I don't care.
"She always had a hidden motive behind her actions and now we've found out that she wants to take over the government. Everything that you've seen, everything that she's done has been a ploy. It's all led up to this moment. She gained out trust and then stabbed us in the back." She says, now looking up to the camera with a hurt look on her face. "I don't believe her planet was destroyed. I think she intends to take over as many planets as she can. Or maybe she was sent away because she was dangerous. You need to remember she's an alien, not a person."
"I'm not listening to any more of this crap." I say before leaving the room.
I knew I was going to be annoyed at the response but I didn't know I'd be this annoyed.
Less than 5 minutes later, Niko joins me in our room.
"Are you ok?" He asks.
"I'm pissed off." I state. "Especially at her implying that I'm less than human."
